Abstract: A method and apparatus for browsing a plurality of broadcast programs are provided. The method includes classifying a plurality of broadcast programs into one or more broadcast program groups with reference to electronic program guide (EPG) information or viewing records of a user regarding the broadcast programs, one-dimensionally arranging the broadcast programs so that the broadcast program groups are one-dimensionally arranged, displaying the broadcast programs and the broadcast program groups on a screen as a graphic image, and allowing the user to change a rule used for forming the broadcast program groups. Accordingly, it is possible to enable a user to effectively browse broadcast programs and to provide the user with a user interface customized for the user by using a simple one-dimensional input method and intuitively utilizing EPG information.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating a thumbnail in a size requested by an application at high definition and high speed to browse a digital image are provided. An original image is partially decoded to generate a first thumbnail and the first thumbnail is partially decoded to generate a second thumbnail in a size requested by an application. Accordingly, a digital image is displayed on a full screen using a stored thumbnail instead of decoding an original image, and therefore, a large-capacity high-definition image can be displayed quickly. In addition, to display a thumbnail in various sizes, a small size of the thumbnail is not enlarged but the thumbnail having a size approximate to a full screen size is reduced. Accordingly, degradation of picture quality is decreased.

The apparatus includes a storage unit storing contents in the storage space, a consumption estimation unit estimating time-variant consumption of the storage space, a contents management unit deleting at least a portion of the contents or storing at least a portion of additionally input contents according to the estimation result, and an output unit outputting the deletion or storage result.
