Abstract: There is disclosed an image processing apparatus provided with a reader for reading an original image, a connection unit for connection with a network to which plural computers are connected, and a transfer units for transferring the image data, read by the reader, to a computer through the connection unit, the apparatus comprises a specifying unit for specifying desired one among the computers connected through the connection unit, and a designation unit for designating image reading by the reader, wherein the transfer unit is adapted to transfer the image data, read by the reader in response to the designation by the designation unit, to a computer specified by the specifying unit.

Abstract: In the communication between a facsimile apparatus and an information processing terminal, the communication of status information of the facsimile apparatus is efficiently effected and an operation efficiency of the apparatus is improved. In response to a command from the information processing terminal, information indicating a change in the status of the facsimile apparatus is set in a response transmitted from the facsimile apparatus to the information processing terminal, and the information processing terminal conducts a communication request of the status information of the facsimile apparatus in accordance with the information.

Abstract: Document data is transferred from a facsimile server 118 to a facsimile apparatus 201 to transmit the document data to a plurality of destinations via a communication line 116. The document data is stored in an image memory in the facsimile apparatus 201. A cover page specific to each of the destinations is input from the facsimile server 118 to the facsimile apparatus 201. The facsimile server 118 specifies IDs and the order of transmission of the files so that the cover page is transmitted first, followed by the document data, in a series of information. The facsimile apparatus 201 transmits them to the proper destination in accordance with the cover page. This process is repeated each time a cover page input is made until transmission to all destinations is completed.

Abstract: When data is to be sent from a communication apparatus connected to a local area network (LAN) to a destination communication apparatus via a communication line, communication parameters related to the destination communication apparatus are inquired to a predetermined terminal apparatus upon reception of a transmission request from a terminal apparatus connected to the LAN. Communication control of the data is performed in accordance with the transmission request based on the communication parameters obtained by the inquiry. Also transmission control of the data is performed in accordance with a communication mode decided based upon the result of an interpretation of reception capability of the destination communication apparatus.

Abstract: A communication apparatus has a calling function and is connectable to an external information-processing terminal. In response to a communication request input from the operation unit or a communication request from the external information-processing terminal, the communication apparatus performs a calling operation for facsimile communication to a receiving end. When the apparatus cannot communicate with the receiving end that was called, it carries out a recalling operation in response to a communication request from the operation unit, but does not perform the recalling operation to a communication request from the information-processing terminal.
