The first unit is provided with an imaging section including an optical system and an imaging device, that enables to capture high-quality images. The first unit is formed with a grip portion for holding and handling the camera as a combination of the first unit and the second unit. The second unit is provided with a driving device including a CPU, a lens driver circuit, a stop driver circuit and a timing generator, and a second imaging section including an optical system and an imaging device, that enables to capture relatively low-quality images. While the second unit is connected to the first unit, the driving device drives the imaging section of the first unit. While the second unit is not connected to the first unit, the driving device drives the imaging section of the second unit.

Abstract: The present invention provides a camera in which a flash emission section is aligned with a self-timer light-emitting indicator section and the amount of slide of a slide door is minimized. The camera includes; a housing with an opening for an image-taking optical system and a first opening through which both the flash emission section and the self-timer light-emitting indicator section appear; and a slide door with a second opening having a cover partially attached thereto. The opening for the image-taking optical system, the first and second openings and the amount of slide of the slide door are arranged such that, when the slide door is closed, part of the first opening overlaps with part of the second opening and the overlapped part of the first opening is shielded by the cover provided in the second opening.

Abstract: When the interior of an electronic camera is seen from the back of the camera, a storage medium chamber is located inside a grip part at the right part of a casing. A smart medium is inserted into and extracted from the storage medium chamber. An LCD is arranged at the left of the storage medium chamber, and the LCD and the storage medium chamber are arranged horizontally on a substrate. A metal shield member encloses the storage medium chamber. The shield member is integrated with a frame member that supports the LCD. The LCD is fixed to the substrate through the frame member. The frame member connects to a ground terminal of the substrate to thereby ground electronic circuits securely.

Abstract: In a portable electronic apparatus, control parts are concentrated in a small space, and they can be operated easily by one hand. A mode dial is provided on the back of a casing of the apparatus, at a position where the thumb of the right hand holding a grip part at the right of the casing is naturally positioned. A cross key is arranged at the left side of the mode dial. The cross key is used as a control key for selecting a variety of setting items and entering commands to change the settings. A menu/execution key for fixing the items and settings selected/changed with the cross key is arranged at the lower left of the cross key. It is therefore possible to perform a sequence of operations by moving the thumb efficiently.
