A liquid preparation containing a herb-origin extract having pH of 3.0 to 5.5 and containing the herb-origin extract at a concentration of 5 to 50 w/v % (dry weight) to the total amount of the liquid preparation, containing a caramel at a concentration of 0.5 to 20 w/v % to the total amount of the liquid preparation, wherein the caramel has isoelectric point of 2.5 to 4.0 and 1.0 w/v % aqueous solution of the caramel has pH of 4.5 to 6.0. Abstract: The present invention is directed to a hard capsule filled with a solution containing an active ingredient, characterized in that the solution contains an inorganic chloride and has a water content (w) of 10<w?80% and a water activity (a) of 0.50?a?0.90, and that the capsule is made of a base material containing a cellulose derivative. According to the present invention, a solution having high water content can be encapsulated, with its solution form being maintained. Thus, the present invention enables provision of a product which does not impair properties and stability of a drug or a similar substance, and does not impair sensation upon intake or eating sensation.

Abstract: This invention relates to a liquid preparation containing a solution, which has a water content of from 10 to 80%, and an active ingredient coated with a coating material comprising a water-soluble cellulose derivative. The liquid preparation can stably retain the water-unstable active ingredient in it and at the same time, can mask its unpleasant taste and/or smell, and is usable as drug, quasi-drug, cosmetic, food or the like.
