  • Patent number: 12167560
Abstract: An elevator provides for sliding and connecting or disconnecting an electronic device from a chassis circuit board and the subsequent removal of the device from a chassis slot. A sliding element between the device and the chassis includes tracks within which travel followers. Motion of the sliding element in a first direction causes the tracks to move with respect to the followers, pulling the device connector away from the mating circuit board connector. In a fully disconnected position, the device may be removed from the slot. Motion of the sliding element in the opposite direction causes the relative motion between the tracks and followers to urge the device connector toward the circuit board connector until, in a fully seated position, the device is connected to the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 11490536
Abstract: An elevator provides for lifting and disconnecting an electronic device from a chassis circuit board and the subsequent removal of the device from a chassis slot. A sliding element between the device and the slot includes tracks within which travel followers associated with the electronic device. Motion in a first direction the tracks causes the tracks to move with respect to the followers, raising the device away from the circuit board. In a fully raised position, the device is disconnected and may be removed from the slot. Motion in the opposite direction causes the relative motion between the track and follower to lower the device toward the circuit board. In a fully seated position, the device is connected to the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5819095
Abstract: A method and apparatus of making a computer system using the peripheral component interconnect (PCI) bus architecture compatible with an Apple computer system are provided. In a preferred embodiment mechanism is used for dedicating interrupt request lines to each of a plurality of input/output (I/O) devices, a mechanism for providing an interrupt request from one of the plurality of I/O devices to a processor, and a mechanism for disabling an interrupt controller on the motherboard of the system (or onboard interrupt controller) so as to allow an interrupt controller residing on an Apple adapter to control the system. The interrupt controller on the Apple adapter contains an input for each of the various I/O adapters attached to the computer system and also provides a request line to the processor.

  • Patent number: 5787290
Abstract: A CHRP compliant Apple adapter is provided. The adapter comprises an onboard interrupt controller to control a peripheral component interconnect (PCI) based computer system. The adapter also comprises a mechanism for disabling a pre-existing system interrupt controller. The onboard interrupt controller contains an interrupt request input for each of a plurality of I/O devices attached to the computer system and also provides an interrupt request to a processor.

  • Patent number: 5764529
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing automatic frequency and voltage selection for microprocessors in a computer system. Microprocessor identification (ID) bits are burned into a microprocessor during manufacture to specify the correct bus frequency and core voltage. A clock generator and voltage regulator are provided to receive and interpret the ID bits and provide the correct frequency and voltage.

  • Patent number: 5742833
Abstract: A frame-address matching function of a network controller is enhanced. In a full power-on mode, the controller performs conventional functions. In the low-power mode, the controller includes frame-address and frame-data matching, as well as pre-determined and programmable autonomous response to network protocol. If a match occurs with respect to the frame destination address or frame data, the system associated with the controller is placed in a wake-up state. If the controller is programmed to perform pattern matching inside the frame data area, upon such match in the frame data area the controller will generate and transmit on the network a simple response packet automatically. Conversely, if a match is not detected, no action is taken. The frame-data patterns are programmable with the capability to mask out certain data fields as desired which are protocol dependent and are substantially protocol dependent.
