  • Patent number: 12339300
Abstract: The following relates generally to optical voltage sensing, and in particular to optical voltage sensing of power grids and of a subject body. For example, some embodiments include an optical resonator comprising: (i) a top electrode layer, (ii) a piezoelectric layer, and (iii) a substrate. A light source may illuminate the optical resonator of the voltage sensor with light comprising an incident optical power at an input wavelength, where the input wavelength is offset from a resonant wavelength of the optical resonator by a baseline voltage. The applied voltage may then be measured by measuring a reflected or transmitted light power.

  • Publication number: 20230095948
Abstract: The following relates generally to measuring a patients O2 level with a mote implanted in the patient's tissue. For example, a mote implanted in a patients tissue may be powered by ultrasound (US) signals generated by an ultrasound interrogator that is external to the patient. Components on the mote may be duty cycled off to advantageously decrease power consumption. A luminescence sensor on the mote may be used to measure the O2 level, and the luminescence sensor may be optically isolated from the patients tissue by an opaque material such as black silicon.

  • Publication number: 20230089015
Abstract: An implantable device is provided, comprising: a substrate; an integrated circuit attached to the substrate; and an ultrasonic transducer configured to receive ultrasonic waves that power the integrated circuit, wherein the ultrasonic transducer is attached to the substrate via one or more electrodes, and wherein the total electrode surface area in contact with the ultrasonic transducer is smaller than the surface area of a face of the ultrasonic transducer to which the one or more electrodes are attached. For example, the ultrasonic transducer may be a cubic piezoelectric crystal, and the electrodes may be positioned at the edges of a face of the cubic piezoelectric crystal, at the center of a face of the cubic piezoelectric crystal, or at the corners of a face of the piezoelectric crystal.
