  • Patent number: 6267624
Abstract: An electrical connector includes an insulative housing having a first face on which a tongue plate is formed. Passageways are defined in the housing and are further defined by grooves formed on surfaces of the tongue plate for receiving and retaining contact elements therein. A shroud wall having three sections and a guide wall are formed on the first face of the housing and define a space therebetween for receiving a mating connector. The guide wall and the shroud wall have diverging inside faces for guiding a mating connector into the space. A shielding member having three sections is received in the space and supported by the sections of the shroud wall. The shielding member has a lower edge received in a slot defined in the housing and an outwardly bent top edge for guiding the insertion of the mating connector into the space and electrically engages with the mating connector for electrostatic discharge purposes.

  • Patent number: 6109966
Abstract: A mini DIN connector comprises an insulative housing, a number of terminals secured in the housing, a shield and a bottom cover. Side walls of the shield each include a cutout and an L-shaped boardlock extending from an upper edge of each cutout for securing the connector to a circuit board. The circuit board forms a cutout for receiving the connector. A support portion projects from each lateral face for engaging an edge of the cutout of the circuit board. When the boardlocks secure the connector to the circuit board, a bottom of the housing is located below the circuit board. Thus, the height of the connector above the circuit board is reduced. In addition, the bottom cover is mounted to the bottom of the housing thereby improving shielding against EMI.

  • Patent number: 6093046
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises an insulative housing, a shield, a number of terminals, a shielding blade and a pair of guide posts. The housing includes a cover and a base separately manufactured by injection molding. Thus, a height of a corresponding mold for forming the cover and the base is decreased thereby promoting the free flow of molten plastic and enhancing the strength of the housing especially terminal passageways thereof. In assembly, the shield, the cover and the base are secured together by riveting the guide posts. The blade is disposed in the cover and the base for eliminating cross talk between the terminals. The blade electrically contacts the shield which is conductively connected to the guide posts.
