  • Patent number: 12311866
Abstract: An apparatus for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle includes an airbag configured to be mounted at a mounting location on a vehicle mounting structure. The airbag includes a front wall configured to receive the occupant, inflatable sidewalls connected to the front wall, and an inflatable rear cushion. The sidewalls are configured to extend from the front wall to a throat of the airbag at the mounting location. The front wall and the sidewalls delimit a non-inflatable central space located behind the front wall and between the sidewalls. The rear cushion is positioned in the central space between the throat and the front wall.

  • Patent number: 12214740
Abstract: An anchor assembly for connecting a curtain airbag to a side structure of a vehicle includes an elongated track configured to be connected to the side structure of the vehicle behind a vehicle trim piece that covers the side structure and forms a surface visible from within a passenger compartment of the vehicle. An anchor is configured to move along the track. The track includes sidewalls that define an interior channel that extends along the length of the track, and a slot that extends along the length of the track. The anchor includes a shank and a roller that is connected to the shank and rotatable relative to the shank. The roller and a portion of the shank to which the roller is connected are positioned in the channel and are movable along the channel when the anchor moves along the track. A portion of the shank extends through the slot, is positioned on an exterior of the track, and is configured to be connected to the curtain airbag.

  • Publication number: 20200001818
Abstract: A curtain airbag configured to maintain an internal working pressure of the airbag when an internal working pressure exceeds a design working pressure. The curtain airbag can include pressure relief elements that are actuatable to increase the inflatable volume of the curtain airbag. The curtain airbag can include a relief vent that opens when the internal working pressure exceeds the design working pressure and subsequently close when the internal working pressure falls below the design working pressure.

  • Patent number: 9415662
Abstract: A sensor module includes a housing. A heat source is located within the housing of the sensor module and a plurality of temperature sensors are mounted in housing of said sensor module. At least one temperature sensors is located adjacent to the heat source and at least one other temperature sensor is spaced from the heat source. A humidity sensor is located within the housing of the sensor module. A controller is connected to the plurality of temperature sensors and to the humidity sensor for determining at least one of relative humidity and temperature at the windscreen using a regression analysis and for providing a control signal indicative thereof.

  • Patent number: 9409537
Abstract: A seat belt system for restraining movement of an occupant of a vehicle includes a seat belt and a member having an opening through which the seat belt extends. A first inflatable portion of the seat belt extends in a first direction from the member. A second inflatable portion of the seat belt extends in a second direction from the member. A source of inflation fluid is connected in fluid communication with one of the first and second inflatable portions of the seat belt and connected in fluid communication with another of the first and second inflatable portions of the seat belt through the member. The one inflatable portion of the seat belt enables inflation fluid to flow from the source of inflation fluid into the one inflatable portion of the seat belt and to flow from the one inflatable portion of the seat belt through the member into the another inflatable portion of the seat belt.
