    Abstract: The present invention relates to one or more arylnaphthalene lignan(s), in particular, comfreyn A, and a pharmaceutic composition comprising it. Comfreyn A was isolated from a preparation of comfrey (Symphytum officinale L.) roots and was found to reduce inflammation by interfering with pro-inflammatory gene expression. In particular, it inhibited E-selectine expression in interleukin 1? (IL-1?)-induced HUVEC cells.
