  • Publication number: 20260178378
Abstract: An apparatus and method for efficiently scheduling instructions for a parallel data processing circuit. In various implementations, a computing system includes a variety of types of processing circuits with two or more capable of executing a same type of task. A hardware component, such as a processing circuit, accesses a command buffer. The processing circuit reads, in the command buffer, a predicate command corresponding to the next task to execute. The processing circuit checks the predicate memory location corresponding to the next task to verify whether another hardware component has started the next task. If any other hardware component has begun executing the task, then the processing circuit discards the task from its command buffer. Otherwise, if no other hardware component has begun executing the task, then the processing circuit updates the predicate memory location corresponding to the task to specify the task has begun execution.

  • Publication number: 20260006221
Abstract: A processing system employs at least two graphics processing units (GPUs) to encode video. The GPUs employ sets of predicated values that indicate when reconstructed slices have been transferred between the GPUs. Furthermore, each GPU maintains a set of previous reference images, and encodes video slices based on the previous reference images having an expected predicated value. This allows each GPU to identify which reference images to use for encoding. This in turn allows the processing system to encode video frames without synchronization of the GPUs, while maintaining the quality of the encoded video.

  • Publication number: 20250280138
Abstract: A bitstream encoding or decoding job is broken up into a plurality of segments, each of which is independent from subsequent segments and corresponds to a respective fence identifier. The segments are individually processed and progress is indicated using the fence identifiers. In some cases, a first segment is encoded, transmitted, decoded, and processed before a second segment is encoded. As a result, in some cases, segment statuses are more easily tracked, hardware is used more efficiently, end-to-end processing time is reduced, and less communication network bandwidth is used.

  • Patent number: 11956441
Abstract: Methods and devices are provided for encoding a video stream which comprise encoding a plurality of frames of video acquired from different points of view, generating statistical values for the frames of video determined from values of pixels of the frames, generating, for each of the plurality of frames, a perceptual hash value based on statistical values of the frame and encoding a current frame comprising video acquired from a corresponding one of the different points of view using a previously encoded reference frame based on a similarity of perceptual hashes of the current frame and the previously encoded reference frame.

  • Patent number: 11778168
Abstract: Reference frame detection using sensor metadata, including: storing a plurality of first frames each corresponding to first metadata, wherein the first metadata for each first frame of the plurality of first frames is based on first sensor data from one or more sensors; generating a second frame corresponding to second metadata based on the one or more sensors; identifying, based on the first metadata of the plurality of first frames and the second metadata, a reference frame of the plurality of first frames; and encoding the second frame based on the reference frame.

  • Publication number: 20220100543
Abstract: A method and processing device are disclosed for allocating hardware bandwidth capability for a virtual environment. The processing device comprises memory and a processor. The processor is configured to determine current hardware bandwidth usages for a plurality of virtual functions (VFs) executing on corresponding virtual machines (VMs), determine utilizations of hardware bandwidth capabilities of the VFs, reallocate the hardware bandwidth capabilities based on the determined utilizations and store the reallocated hardware bandwidth usages in a portion of the memory which is accessible to the VMs. Utilizations are determined, for example, based on current hardware bandwidth usages. The hardware bandwidth capabilities are, for example, reallocated by storing metadata indicating the hardware bandwidth capability allocated to each of the VFs.
