Abstract: An apparatus, method, and medium displaying a stereo image compensates for errors between a left image and a right image to reduce eye fatigue experienced by a user. The apparatus includes a feature-point extractor to extract feature points of graphics objects included in a left image and a right image, of a stereo image, a representative-vector determiner to determine a representative vector among vectors between a predetermined point and the feature points, an error-correction unit to correct at least one of a vertical error and a rotation error between the left image and the right image using a difference between the representative vector determined in the left image and the representative vector determined in the right image, and a display unit to display the left image and the right image for which at least one of the vertical error and the rotation error has been corrected.

The method includes sorting words representing a degree of fatigue associated with a 3D image display among a plurality of words, grouping the sorted words through factor analysis, setting words with the highest factor weight as subjective parameters, receiving evaluation scores for the subjective parameters while varying test values of objective parameter candidates capable of representing 3D image characteristics in numerical values, obtaining a correlation between each of indices for N groups and each of the objective parameter candidates using the evaluation scores, and applying the factor weight to the indices to represent the degree of fatigue in the objective parameter candidates.

A reference display receives a signal of a sample image during a first output period and displays a reference image according to the received signal. A target display receives the signal of the sample image during a second output period that does not overlap with the first output period and displays a test image according to the received signal. The focus matching unit may match display positions and sizes of the reference image and the test image. The image control unit may control the signal of the sample image stored in a predetermined memory to be output to the reference display during the first output period and controls the signal of the sample image to be output to the target display during the second output period.

The guide image storage stores guide image data generated by sequentially moving back and forth of the object image point and photographing 3-dimensionally a guide object. The image synthesizer receives the object image data and the guide image data to generate a synthesized image. The controller controls to sequentially output the guide image data and if a photographing distance of the guide image data coincides with an object image point, controls to stop the outputting of the guide image data so that a convergence distance of an observer may coincide with the object image point.
