    Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for composing music in a portable terminal. A frequency of a sound input through a microphone is analyzed. A musical scale is distinguished with the analyzed frequency. A musical note is written with the distinguished musical scale. Thus, a user can easily compose music with a musical scale recognition interface capable of recognizing a musical scale.
