Abstract: A sliding module for a portable terminal is interposed between first and second housings of the portable terminal so as to connect the second housing to the first housing. The sliding module allows the second housing to movably slide on the first housing, and includes a first sliding member, a second sliding member, a first stopper means, and a second stopper means. The first sliding member is assembled with the first housing so as to slide on the first housing to allow the second housing to slidably move to an upper side or a lower side of the first housing in a first direction. The second sliding member is fixed to the second housing and assembled with the first sliding member so as to slide on the first housing to allow the second housing to slidably move to the left or right side of the first housing in a second direction.

Abstract: A sliding cradle in a mobile terminal has a body housing, and a sliding and pivotable housing adapted to rest in a slanting position on the body housing after being slid on the body housing. The sliding cradle comprises a first member fastened to the body housing, a second member fastened to the sliding and pivotable housing, and a sliding guide part arranged between the first and second members to guide the sliding movement of the sliding and pivotable housing. The sliding guide part has a pivot for pivoting the second member apart from the first member. A fixture member is fastened to the first member to face the sliding guide part. A pivot control device is connected to the first and second members to substantially prevent the sliding and pivotable housing from pivoting during the sliding movement and to enable the sliding and pivotable housing to pivot upon completion of the sliding movement.

The portable terminal includes a first housing and a second housing coupled with the first housing so as to be able to slide in a first direction or in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction. The keypad includes a first keypad on the first housing which is exposed or covered as the second housing slides in the first direction, and a second keypad on the first housing which is exposed or covered as the second housing slides in the second direction.

Abstract: A curved sliding-type portable communication apparatus and a sliding device thereof are provided. The sliding-type portable communication apparatus includes a main body which includes a plurality of first keys on its top surface and a slider which includes a display device on its top surface, is given a closing force within a predetermined distance from the longitudinal direction of the main body while facing the main body, moves in a curved fashion with an opening force beyond the predetermined distance, provides easy initial movement through the curved movement, and opens and closes the top surface of the main body. Thus, it is easy to open and close the sliding-type portable communication apparatus using the thumb while gripping the sliding-type portable communication apparatus by the hand.

To this end, the portable communication apparatus includes a first housing extending in a longitudinal direction and a second housing that slides substantially perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction and rotates while facing the first housing to stand at a desired angle. A guide means guides the sliding and rotational movement of the second housing, and a rotational moving means is included between the first housing and the second housing to make the second housing stand at the desired angle.
