  • Patent number: 7020294
Abstract: The present invention considers a method for active cancellation using independent component analysis. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method which is operable the independent component analysis technique to an adaptive algorithm that can consider secondary or more higher statistical characteristics. The conventional active noise cancellation systems mainly use the LMS(Least Mean Square) which considers secondary statistics among input signals. Being different from the conventional active noise cancellation systems, the present invention provides a method for active noise cancellation using independent component analysis, which makes output signals independent of each other by considering secondary or more higher statistical characteristics. Therefore, according to the present invention, the improved performances of the noise cancellation systems can be provided compared with the conventional active noise cancellation system which uses the LMS adaptive algorithm.

  • Patent number: 6947891
Abstract: A speech recognition system that is insensitive to external noise and applicable to actual life includes an A/D converter that converts analog voice signals to digital signals. An FIR filtering section employs powers-of-two conversion to filter the digital signals converted at the A/D converter into numbers of channels. A characteristic extraction section immediately extracts speech characteristics having strong noise-resistance from the output signals of the FIR filtering section without using additional memories. A word boundary detection section discriminates the information of the start-point and the end-point of a voice signal on the basis of the characteristics extracted by the characteristic extraction section.

  • Patent number: 6601052
Abstract: The present invention discloses an implementation of the selective attention mechanism occurring in the human brain using a conventional neural network, multi-layer perceptron and the error back-propagation method as a conventional learning method, and an application of the selective attention mechanism to perception of patterns such as voices or characters. In contrast to the conventional multi-layer perceptron and error back-propagation method in which the weighted value of the network is changed based on a given input signal, the selective attention algorithm of the present invention involves learning a present input pattern to minimize the error of the output layer with the weighted value set to a fixed value, so that the network can receive only a desired input signal to simulate the selective attention mechanism in the aspect of the biology.

  • Publication number: 20010046874
Abstract: An apparatus relays a signal transmitted from a specified base station to a mobile station in CDMA wireless telecommunications systems. To this purpose, the apparatus, installed in an area where signals transmitted from a plurality of base stations co-exist or a soft blocking occurs, operates by following the steps of receiving the signal transmitted from a specified base station having smaller number of calls than the other neighboring base stations, filtering a signal within a service frequency band from the received signal, amplifying the filtered signal, adjusting a gain of the amplified signal and finally transmitting the gain-adjusted signal to the mobile station. Accordingly, a pilot pollution phenomenon is removed and an effective call distribution is achieved, so that the efficiency in using system resources can be greatly improved.

  • Patent number: 5737287
Abstract: A method for deciding recording density of an optical disc easily decides and searches the kind and data recording status of a disc when reproducing a general CD and a high density CD. The method is performed by a recording step of recording classification of the general disc and the high density disc, and identification and recording density status of respective layers of the high density CD onto both a zero area of a lead-in region and a zero area of a Q channel of a subcode, and a reproducing step in which the zero area of the lead-in region is read out to decide the recording density status and positional information with respect to respective musics, and the linear velocity of the spindle motor, tracking servo and focusing servo are controlled with respect to the decided respective musics. Thus, it is easy to search the music while accurately controlling the spindle motor, focusing servo and tracking servo according to the recording density.
