  • Publication number: 20070110920
Abstract: A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a first display substrate, a second display substrate and a liquid crystal layer disposed therebetween. The first and second display substrates include first and second vertical inorganic alignment layers, respectively, to vertically align liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer. The first and second vertical inorganic alignment layers each include a silicon carbide and are formed on the first and second display substrates, respectively, by a chemical vapor deposition method or a sputtering method. Thus, processes for the vertical inorganic alignment layer may be simplified, thereby improving manufacturing productivity of the liquid crystal display apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20070092743
Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes a first panel and a second panel, an alignment layer formed on at least one of the first panel and the second panel, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first display panel and the second display panel and comprising liquid crystal molecules. The alignment layer includes a polymer comprising a polyamic acid having having a plurality of amic acid groups and a polyimide having a plurality of imide groups. The polymer has an imidization ratio of at least about 85%.

  • Publication number: 20070024788
Abstract: A liquid crystal display is provided. The liquid crystal display includes a common electrode panel comprising a common electrode; a thin film transistor array panel facing the common electrode panel; and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the common electrode panel and the thin film transistor array panel, wherein the common electrode has a reflectivity of about 5% or less for incident light passing through the thin film transistor array panel.

  • Publication number: 20070013846
Abstract: A liquid crystal display, a method for manufacturing the same, and an apparatus for manufacturing the same are provided. A method includes forming a field-generating electrode on a panel, and forming an inorganic alignment layer on the substrate by using atmospheric pressure plasma. The process using the atmospheric pressure plasma to form the inorganic alignment layer is more simplified by omitting the etch steps of the short point area and the pad areas. Also, alignment layers may be formed on the mother glass with various shapes by using one apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20060038947
Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate opposite the first substrate and a liquid crystal layer. The first substrate includes a lower substrate, a first buffer layer formed on the lower substrate and a first alignment layer formed on the first buffer layer. The first buffer layer includes a polymer-like carbon and the first alignment layer includes a diamond-like carbon thin film containing fluorine. The second substrate includes an upper substrate, a second buffer layer formed on the upper substrate and a second alignment layer formed on the second buffer layer. The second buffer layer includes the polymer-like carbon thin film and the second alignment layer includes the diamond-like carbon thin film containing fluorine. The liquid crystal display panel has improved light transmittance and a low probability of separation between the alignment layer and the substrate.
