Abstract: Provided is a method of providing an Internet Protocol (IP)-based mobility service, particularly, a method of providing seamless quality of service (QoS) guarantees when an IP-based mobile service is provided. The seamless QoS management method includes: a method of providing seamless QoS guarantees when an Internet Protocol (IP)-based mobility service is provided, including: determining whether a terminal is newly registered in a network connecting unit; and providing QoS information of the newly registered terminal to the network connecting unit. Therefore, a user can successively receive a Service Level Agreement (SLA)-based service for which he or she subscribes, while moving to other places.

  • Publication number: 20090100179
Abstract: Provided is a method of controlling resources using out-of-band signaling. A central admission entity checks subscription information of a user requesting resources and policies of a network for call setting, determines whether the resources are to be assigned, and distributes an IP-level flow descriptor to an edge node of the network in order to assign the resources. The edge node receiving the IP-level flow descriptor performs mapping of the IP-level flow descriptor to flow state aware (FSA) parameters, and generates a start node. Thus, a process of in-band signaling can be simplified by omitting respond and reconfirm operations.

  • Publication number: 20080316920
Abstract: Provided are system and method for multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) label-switched path (LSP) protection switching in an MPLS system employing a working LSP and a protection LSP in a 1:1 mode, the apparatus and method prepare a dedicated LSP for one working LSP and are capable of rapidly processing a forward defect indication (FDI)/backward defect indication (BDI) signal when a failure occurs on the working LSP. The system includes: an ingress node multicasting input MPLS traffic through the working LSP and the protection LSP using a fed-back BDI signal; a transit node relaying the MPLS traffic input from the ingress node, and generating a FDI signal when the failure occurs; and an egress node extracting the MPLS traffic from the MPLS LSP input from the transit node, and when the FDI signal is detected, inserting and feeding back the BDI signal to the ingress node through a return path and performing switching to the protection LSP.

  • Publication number: 20080134003
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a Tandem Connection Monitoring (TCM) method in an MPLS network and a data structure of a Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) OAM packet for TCM. When data are provided to users through an LSP path comprising multiple network provider in an MPLS network, the method makes it possible to independently measure LSP performance at a user level, a service provider level, and a network provider level, detect quality degradation of ingress signals by measuring performance of a preceding network, and newly measure the performance quality at the current network regardless of the performance quality of the preceding network.

  • Publication number: 20080112544
Abstract: An emergency call service system in an Internet Protocol (IP) network and a method thereof are provided. The system includes a policy control server, an emergency call agent, a call agent, and a network manager. The policy control server generates position information of a user terminal by mapping an IP address and local information to an identification (ID) of the user terminal. The emergency call agent detects a suitable emergency center for the user terminal sending an emergency call, and makes an emergency-call connection between the user terminal and the emergency center. The call agent relays the emergency call of the user terminal to the emergency call agent. The network manager stores position information of the user terminal generated through the policy control server, provides the emergency call agent with the position information of the user terminal sending the emergency call, and performs a resource reservation for the emergency-call connection.

  • Publication number: 20080080499
Abstract: An Internet Protocol Television (IP-TV) broadcasting service system and method using a physical layer multicast switch are provided. The system comprises: a head end which converts an Ethernet signal to a virtual concatenation group (VCG) signal of a synchronous digital hierarchy/synchronous optical network (SDH/SONET); a multicast switch which multicasts the VCG signal in a physical layer; and a tail end which receives the multicasted VCG signal through a Synchronous Transmission Module level n (STM-N) optical link and restores the VCG signal to the Ethernet signal. Therefore, high quality TV broadcasting can be provided in an IP multicast network.

The method for supporting user mobility by allowing guest access in an Internet service network includes the steps of: performing user authentication and querying a subscriber DB to determine whether a user is a host user or a guest user when a subscriber ID is inputted; querying the subscriber DB to determine whether there is an available bandwidth for the guest user when the user is the guest user; and querying the subscriber DB to provide a service package corresponding to the guest user when there is an available bandwidth for the guest user.

  • Publication number: 20070133540
Abstract: Provided is a method for measuring performance of a multi-protocol label switching label switched path (MPLS LSP), using a fast failure detection (FFD) packet among MPLS operation and management (OAM) packets recommended by International Telecommunication Union-Telecommunication standardization sector (ITU-T) Y.1711 to detect a packet error generated in the MPLS LSP and newly defining bytes not used in the FFD frame to use the bytes for parity check. An ingress node performs the steps of: calculating a parity value of an MPLS packet as byte interleaved parity (BIP)-8 before transmitting the MPLS packet; storing the calculated parity value of the MPLS packet in an MPLS OAM packet of an FFD structure; and transmitting the MPLS OAM packet whenever transmitting the MPLS packet.
