  • Publication number: 20120149438
Abstract: A mobile phone of a folding type is disclosed. The mobile phone of a folding type according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention may include: a first body provided with a first display portion; and a second body rotatably connected to the first body through at least one of a first hinge module and provided with a second display portion, wherein the first and second display portions form the same plane and are configured such that at least one of the first and second display portions can slide toward the other of the first and second display portions in a case that the first and second bodies are open.

  • Patent number: 7679706
Abstract: A liquid crystal display and method of fabricating the same. The liquid crystal display includes a bottom substrate. A pixel electrode is arranged on the bottom substrate. A top substrate is arranged above the bottom substrate to have an opposing surface which faces the bottom substrate. An common electrode having at least one aperture is arranged on this opposing surface of the top substrate. A liquid crystal layer is arranged between the pixel electrode and the common electrode. Thus the bend transition time and the bend transition voltage may be reduced without decreasing the aperture ratio.

  • Publication number: 20070128904
Abstract: Disclosed is a slider mechanism for slidably opening and closing a portable communication terminal. The slider mechanism includes a first plate and a second plate slidably combined with the first plate. The second plate has a cam profile formed along siding direction. A resilience unit is mounted on the first plate to exert resilient force perpendicularly to moving direction of the second plate. A roller is rotatably attached to an end of the resilience unit. The roller runs along the cam profile while the portable terminal opens or closes. Formed at a desired position of the cam profile is a depression on which the roller rests to hold the terminal in place at closed or opened state, or at any other desired position.

  • Publication number: 20070024802
Abstract: The present invention is an OCB mode liquid crystal display for improving transition voltage, reliability and driving margin by restricting birefringence, dielectric constant anisotropy, K11, K33 and viscosity of liquid crystals to the optimum values in the OCB mode liquid crystal display, where K11 represents an elastic coefficient of a splay phase, and K33 represents an elastic coefficient of a bend phase.

  • Publication number: 20060209001
Abstract: In a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) device having an Optically Compensated Bend (OCB) mode liquid crystal and a method of driving the device, a source driver applies a transition pulse wave voltage to a pixel electrode of the liquid crystal for a predetermined time duration. The pulse wave voltage is 5 to 7 volts at maximum, and has a frequency of 100 to 500 Hz. Accordingly, since there is no need for a DC-DC converter to apply a high voltage and since a low initial bend transition voltage is used, the manufacturing costs and power consumption are reduced.

  • Publication number: 20060114395
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device (LCD) and method of fabricating the same are provided, in which in an OCB mode LCD, an edge portion of a first electrode is formed with a taper angle of not less than approximately 25° and less than 90°, thus an electric field in the edge portion of the first electrode becomes nonuniform so that a transitional nucleus is easily created and liquid crystals are readily transitioned to a bend phase at a low transition voltage. As a result, the phase transition of the liquid crystals can be easily controlled.
