The data lines are disposed in the display area and cross the gate lines. The dummy gate line is disposed adjacent to the last gate line of the gate lines and receives a dummy gate signal transmitted from an external device. Thus, a dummy gate line is adjacent to the last gate line and a pixel electrode connected to the last gate line is affected by a dummy gate signal applied to the dummy gate line.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display (“LCD”) includes an LCD panel, a data driving unit, and a selection unit. A configuration of the selection unit, which includes a plurality of switching devices driven by a selection control signal to connect a plurality of data lines to each channel of the data driving unit, is adjusted according to the selection control signal, so that charging voltages of the same color pixels of the LCD panel are made the same, whereby no stripe defect appears. In addition, the configuration of the selection unit is adjusted according to the selection control signal and the polarity change of the data signal supplied from the data driving unit, so that color aggregation caused by supplying the same polarity voltage to adjacent color pixels of the LCD panel can be minimized.

    Abstract: A mask for silicon crystallization capable of minimizing the number of grain boundaries in crystallized silicon, a method for crystallizing silicon using the mask, and a display device are presented. The mask includes a group of slits that are inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to a scan direction and a group of slits including slits inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to the former group of slits. The groups of slits are separated by an interval along the scan direction, and the substrate and/or mask is moved by the interval between irradiation by laser through the slits. Further, there are provided a method for crystallizing silicon using the mask and a display device. By reducing the number of grain boundaries that extend horizontally or vertically on the substrate, the invention obviates a design limitation associated with the directional anisotropy in sequential lateral solidification (SLS) technique.

Accordingly, variations in threshold voltage of the driving transistor can be compensated for so that it is possible to display a uniform image.
