    Abstract: A technique facilitates the provision of electrical power in harsh environments, such as subterranean environments. The technique employs a power cable having at least one conductor and a polyimide insulation layer disposed about the conductor. A fluoropolymer tape layer is disposed about the polyimide insulation layer. The fluoropolymer tape layer is processed into a uniform, bonded layer. Additional cable layers also may be employed to help provide protection in the harsh environment.
