  • Patent number: 8789567
Abstract: A pneumatic tire (1) having a sound absorption effect by lateral grooves is provided. The tire tread (2) has circumferential grooves formed continuously in the circumferential direction and lateral grooves extending from a circumferential groove. One end of each lateral groove is connected to the circumferential groove and the other end is a dead end. Each of the lateral grooves (7) includes a one-directional groove (11) extending in one direction from the circumferential groove (5) toward a side edge of the tire and an another-directional groove (14) extending in another direction from the circumferential groove toward the side edge of the tire. A root section (11a), which is close to the circumferential groove, of the one-directional groove (11) and a root section (14a), which is close to the circumferential groove (5), of the another-directional groove (14) are formed by a common groove (15).

  • Publication number: 20120318419
Abstract: Plural lug grooves are formed that extend from an outermost circumferential direction groove towards a tire equatorial plane side and are disposed sloped with respect to the tire equatorial plane at intervals along the tire circumferential direction. Arc shaped communication grooves are formed in segment land portions arising from a land portion being segmented in the tire circumferential direction by the lug grooves. The communication grooves communicate between the lug grooves adjacent to each other in the tire circumferential direction.

  • Publication number: 20120291934
Abstract: An object is to provide a pneumatic tire with enhanced on-snow performance. On-snow performance is enhanced due to a tire 10 having a tread 12 provided with a shoulder circumferential direction main groove 16 formed with alternating narrow groove-width portions 16A and wide groove-width portions 16B having a wider groove-width than the narrow groove-width portions 16A extending in the tire circumferential direction. The tread 12 is further provided with an intermediate lug groove 32, extending in a direction so as to intersect the shoulder circumferential direction main groove 16 and having a first end portion connected to the shoulder circumferential direction main groove 16. The intermediate lug groove 32 is provided such that one of the wide groove-width portions 16B is positioned on an extension line of the intermediate lug groove 32.

  • Publication number: 20120273101
Abstract: A pneumatic tire is provided with a decoration portion at a tire side portion. The decoration portion includes decoration elements, which include ridges, and gullies, which are inclined with respect to the tire circumferential direction and divide the decoration elements into at least two regions. Thus, the gullies make the ridges non- continuous in the tire circumferential direction. The ridges include first ridges and second ridges that are smaller than the first ridges in one or both of height and width. At least some of the first ridges are inclined with respect to the tire circumferential direction and are adjacent to one another. Thus, the gullies are formed between the adjacent first ridges.

  • Patent number: 8267132
Abstract: There is provided a pneumatic tire sufficiently improving drainage performance, driving stability, uneven wear resistance and quiet performance. A pneumatic tire 1 has at least one tire circumferential groove 9 extending along the tire circumferential direction in a tread portion 2. In addition, there are provided in a surface of the tread portion, a plurality of inclined grooves consisting of two or more small grooves 10 inclined at the same direction with respect to the tire circumferential direction and having an inclination angle within a range between 10 degrees and 60 degrees and configured in a zig-zag manner by coupling ends of the small grooves 10. The inclined grooves 11 are included in any widthwise section of the tread portion 2 of the tire and a part of the inclined grooves 11 is opened to the tire circumferential groove 9.
