Abstract: A display device and a control method thereof are provided. The display device includes a camera obtaining an image and a controller obtaining the direction of a user included in the obtained image and correcting the image such that the direction of the user is synchronized with the photographing direction of the camera. Even when the direction of the user does not correspond to the photographing direction of the camera, an image of the user can be corrected to correctly recognize a user's gesture.

The display device comprises a camera obtaining an image including a gesture of a user and a controller extracting the image of the gesture from the obtained image and executing a function mapped to the extracted gesture when the range of the gesture exceeds a threshold corresponding to the user. The method of controlling the display device executes functions respectively corresponding to specific gestures of users when the gestures exceed thresholds respectively corresponding to the users to operate the display device in a manner most suitable for the range of the gesture of each user.

Abstract: Provided is a method which minimizes power consumption by controlling power of a camera that is used for recognizing a user's gesture, in a video processing apparatus, which recognizes the user's gesture and is controlled according to the recognized gesture, such as a TV or a monitor. In the present invention, a camera is driven in a low power mode or a high power mode, and when a user's specific gesture is detected in the lower power mode, the camera is switched to the high power mode for recognizing a detailed gesture.
