    Abstract: Data blocks may be optimized and managed in a mixed mode that utilizes a single-level cell (SLC) mode in combination with higher-density memory modes to promote full block utilization and to increase overall cycles of the data blocks. A data block cycling process in the mixed mode can place a data block in a higher-density memory mode that includes a multi-level cell (MLC) mode, a triple-level cell (TLC) mode, or a quad-level cell (QLC) mode, if the SLC cycle count of the data block is relatively higher as compared to other data blocks. Similarly, in the mixed mode, a data block may be placed in the SLC mode to store parity data or intermediate data if the corresponding TLC cycle count is relatively higher than other data blocks. Data clocks cycles may also be evenly distributed in the mixed mode, thereby balancing the mixed mode usage across all data blocks.

In one implementation, a first gateway identifies processing queues at a second gateway and assigns a unique flow label to each of the processing queues. The first gateway further receives a packet from a computing node that is directed toward the second gateway. The first gateway hashes addressing information in the packet to select a flow label, encapsulates the packet with the flow label in the outer encapsulation header for the encapsulated packet, and forwards the packet toward the second gateway.

    Abstract: Low Reynolds number forced convection heat transport within the fin channels enhanced by deliberate formation of unsteady, small-scale vortical motions using elastically fluttering thin-film reeds. The vortical motions substantially increase the local heat transfer coefficient at the channel walls and mixing between the wall thermal boundary layers and the cooler core flow. The flow mechanisms associated with production, advection and dissipation of these small-scale motions are investigated in a modular, high aspect ratio channel using micro-PIV, video imaging of the reed motion, and hot-wire anemometry. The global heat transfer enhancement in a modular heat sink prototype shows that the reed-induced small scale motions increase the turbulent kinetic energy of the flow even when the base flow undergoes transition to turbulence, leading to an increase in the local and global Nusselt number that is sustained at higher Re and a minor relative increase in losses.

The apparatus may incorporate a laser for generating a laser beam, and a tunable mask for receiving the laser beam which has an optically dispersive element. The mask splits the laser beam into a plurality of emergent beams each having a subplurality of beamlets of varying or identical intensity, with each beamlet emerging from a unique subsection of illuminated regions of the mask. A collimator collimates at least one of the emergent beams to form a collimated beam. One or more focusing elements focuses the collimated beam into a focused beam which is projected as a focused image plane on or within the resist material. The focused beam simultaneously illuminates a layer of the resist material to process an entire layer in a parallel fashion.
