The invention provides bacterial strains with improved carbon flux through the MEP pathway, to thereby increase terpene and/or terpenoid product yield by fermentation with carbon sources such as glucose.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for facilitating interaction within a social network. During operation, the system obtains a set of features associated with two members of a social network, wherein the features comprise a member feature and an activity feature. Next, the system analyzes the features to predict an effect of a potential interaction between the two members on subsequent interactions between the two members in the social network. The system then uses the predicted effect to generate output for modulating the subsequent interactions in the social network.

Abstract: A system, a machine-readable storage medium storing instructions, and a computer-implemented method are described herein are directed to a Candidate Engine. The Candidate Engine generates a key(s) based on respective shared attributes between first profile data of a first member account and second profile data of a second member account in a social network service, The Candidate Engine assembles, according to encoded rules of a prediction model, feature vector data for each key. The encoded rules comprises at least one pre-defined feature predictive of an affinity between the first member account and the second member account. The Candidate Engine processes, according to the prediction model, the feature vector data for each key. The Candidate Engine receives predictive output from the prediction model.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for facilitating interaction within a social network. During operation, the system obtains a set of attributes of a social network of a first member and a set of historic interactions in the social network. Next, the system analyzes the attributes and the historic interactions to predict an effect of a potential interaction between the first member and a second member of the social network on subsequent interactions in the social network. The system then uses the predicted effect to generate output for modulating the subsequent interactions in the social network.

Abstract: A system and methods are provided for forecasting the volume of future events that match specified attributes regarding type of event (e.g., serving of an advertisement impression, a page view, fraudulent activity), attributes of entities involved in the events (e.g., users, content items, system components), and/or other factors. A forecast query is received with one or more terms identifying target criteria of a campaign (e.g., an ad campaign, some other content-serving campaign). The query is decomposed into a first set of terms corresponding to attributes for which one or more predefined models exist, and a second set of terms for which no models exist. The predefined model for the first set of terms (or for a third term that is a superset of the first set of terms) is then used to estimate a number of future events that match the query terms.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that manages online advertising. During operation, the system identifies a user segment for targeting using an online advertisement slot. Next, the system obtains a distribution associated with winning bids for online advertisements shown to the user segment in the online advertisement slot. Finally, the system uses one or more points from the distribution as bid suggestions for advertising campaigns associated with the user segment.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that manages online advertising. During operation, the system calculates an intrinsic value of an online advertisement slot from at least one of a user engagement value and a cannibalization value. Next, the system obtains a reserve price for the online advertisement slot from at least one of the intrinsic value and an advertiser value. Finally, the system uses the reserve price to manage serving of online advertisements from a set of advertising campaigns in the online advertisement slot.

Abstract: A system and methods are provided for serving content in response to content queries or requests. When a request is received, for content to be presented to a specified user, candidate content items are identified, possibly based on matches between attributes of the user and attributes of the items' target audiences. For each item, a history indicating the frequency (e.g., total number) and/or recency with which impressions of the candidate item were previously presented to the user is retrieved and used to determine a modifier value, which is applied to a calculated or generated probable click-through-rate (pCTR) to produce a modified probability that the user would act on the item if it is served to him or her. Each item's estimated value is computed by multiplying a bid associated with the item and the modified probability; the results are ranked and the top-ranked item(s) are served.

The method for internal RF signal transmission in a mobile communication terminal includes a first capacitor plate for forming a first capacitor when the two parts are at a first position relative to each other and for forming a second capacitor when the two parts are at a second position relative to each other.

Abstract: A method for generating automatic design characterization patterns for integrated circuits (IC) is provided. The method includes selecting a routing scheme from a file containing the device description of the routings of the IC. The routing scheme may be of a phase locked loop, clock tree, delay element, or input output block in one embodiment. Resource types for the routing scheme are identified and a path is defined, within constraints, between the resources. Once a path is defined, alternate paths are defined by retracing the path within constraints from an end of the path to the beginning of the path. An alternative path is then built and the alternative path shares a portion of the path previously defined. A computing system providing the functionality of the method is also provided.
