  • Patent number: 11870684
Abstract: Systems and methods for micro-loop avoidance include detecting a remote link failure in a network and identifying an associated Point of Local Repair (PLR); determining destinations in the network that are impacted due to the remote link failure; and installing of a temporary tunnel to the PLR. The steps can further include sending traffic destined for nodes impacted by the remote link failure via the temporary tunnel to the PLR. The temporary tunnel can be implemented by a node Segment Identifier (SID) for the PLR.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 6, 2022
Date of Patent: January 9, 2024
    Assignee: Ciena Corporation
Inventors: Sami Boutros, Sowmya Chandran, Ram Parameswaran, Arun Prakash, Muthurajah Sivabalan

  • Patent number: 9485175
Abstract: A Continuity Check (CC) protocol optimization method in a switch includes operating a plurality of CC sessions with a peer switch, wherein, for CC intervals, N sessions of the plurality CC sessions are set to a short interval and M sessions of the plurality of CC sessions are set to a long interval, wherein N and M are integers; switching a first session of the N sessions with a second session of the M sessions based on one of a fault and user provisioning; and exchanging the CC intervals between the first session and the second session subsequent to the switching.

  • Patent number: 9485171
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for optimizing fault synchronization in a bidirectional data network are provided. In an example, a downstream endpoint of the data network receives a first Alarm Indication Signal (AIS). The first AIS indicates a first FLI of an upstream interface having an interface fault. The downstream endpoint transmits, to an upstream endpoint of the data network, a second AIS including a Remote Defect Indication (RDI) and a second FLI identifying the downstream endpoint. An upstream endpoint of the data network receives the second AIS and determines that the AIS is an AIS-RDI (AIS-RDI) from the presence of the second FLI. The presence of the AIS-RDI triggers the upstream endpoint to initiate tunnel failure synchronization with the downstream endpoint.
