Abstract: Devices for the improvement of skin appearance are provided, said devices including a pad with a backing layer, a release layer, and a vehicle located therebetween, the vehicle containing a cosmetic formulation and a skin permeation enhancer, wherein the skin permeation enhancer includes a plant polar lipid. The invention also relates to a method of improving skin appearance using the devices of the invention.

Abstract: Prolamine-plant polar lipid compositions are provided, said compositions including a mixture of a prolamine, a plant polar lipid, at least one polyalcohol in a hydro-alcoholic solution, and an active agent, wherein the composition forms a substantially homogeneous dispersion with skin adhesive properties; wherein the dispersion forms a film and wherein the film contains a gradient of concentrations of the active agent.

Abstract: Multi-layer, time release, anti-acne patches and multi-layer, anti-acne patches for the topical application of an anti-acne effective combination of active agents are provided along with a method for making the same. The multi-layer, anti-acne patches contain an anti-acne effective combination of at least two agents selected from the group of an antimicrobial agent, an antiseptic agent, an anti-irritant, a keratolytic agent, a hormone, a hormone agonist and a hormone antagonist. The individual layers of adhesive polymeric matrix material contained in the multi-layer, anti-acne patches provided, may contain identical or disparate combinations of agents constituting the anti-acne effective combination. The multi-layer, anti-acne patches may further contain enhancing agents which improve the efficacy of the anti-acne effective combination present therein.

Abstract: A composition for use in a three layer transdermal delivery system is disclosed, the composition comprising an adhesive matrix having sufficient strength to maintain an association on the skin for at least 3 days. The adhesive matrix contains the flux enhancer linoleic acid, an anti-oxidant and an effective dose of one or more steroid hormones with female sex related activity.
