  • Publication number: 20200050910
Abstract: Printing symbols on media is described. Sequential parts of a symbol are marked onto each of multiple corresponding sequential segments of the medium. A characteristic of each of the sequential symbol parts is evaluated. A speed is monitored with which the medium is moved upon the marking of each of the sequential symbol parts onto each of the corresponding sequential segments of the medium. An image, captured in relation to the evaluation, is adjusted based on the monitored speed. Adjusting the captured image may include setting a rate at which the evaluation of the characteristic of each of the sequential symbol parts is performed based on the monitored speed or alternatively, predicting a distortion in the evaluated characteristic of each of the sequential symbol parts corresponding to the monitored speed, and applying a change to the captured image corresponding to, and ameliorating the predicted distortion.

  • Publication number: 20190385027
Abstract: A method for template matching can include iteratively selecting a template set of points to project over a centerline of a candidate symbol; conducting a template matching analysis; assigning a score to each template set; and selecting a template set with a highest assigned score. For example, the score can depend on proximity of the template points to a center and/or boundaries of a principal tracing path of the symbol. Additionally, one or more template sets having a top rank can be selected for a secondary analysis of proximity of the template points to a boundary of a printing of the symbol. The method can further include using the template with the highest score to interpret the candidate symbol.

  • Publication number: 20190339057
Abstract: A mobile dimensioning device, i.e. a mobile dimensioner, is described that uses a dynamic accuracy while still being compatible with the NIST standard. Even if the accuracy division is dynamic and not predetermined, a mobile dimensioning device of the present invention reports the actual dimensioning prior to measurement capture and can therefore be certified and used in commercial transactions.

  • Publication number: 20190335168
Abstract: Various corporate, industry, and regulatory guidelines, best practices and standards are used in establishing acceptable levels of accuracy for volume dimensioning systems used in commerce. A volume dimensioning system can determine at least one distortion value that is indicative of an amount of distortion present in the system and responsive to the amount of distortion, autonomously alter or adjust the units of accuracy of information reported by the system. Such alteration or adjustment of units of accuracy may be performed based on an assessment of the distortion relative to a number of distortion thresholds. Responsive to the assessment, the volume dimensioning system can adjust a unit of accuracy in a representation of volume dimensioning related information.

  • Publication number: 20190311193
Abstract: Various embodiments illustrated herein disclose a method that includes receiving a plurality of images from an image capturing unit. Thereafter, an image evaluation process is executed on each of plurality of sections in each of the plurality of images. The image evaluation process includes performing optical character recognition (OCR) on each of the plurality of sections in each of the plurality of images to generate text corresponding to the plurality of respective sections. Further, the image evaluation process includes querying a linguistic database to identify one or more errors in the generated text. Further, the method includes modifying one or more image characteristics of each of the plurality of images and repeating the execution of the image evaluation process on the modified plurality of images until at least the calculated statistical score is less than a pre-defined statistical score threshold.

  • Patent number: 10417769
Abstract: Dimensioners and methods for dimensioning an object includes capturing, using a dimensioning system with a single sensor, at least one range image of at least one field-of-view, and calculating dimensional data of the range images and storing the results. Wherein, the number of views captured of the object is automatically determined based on one of three modes. The first mode is used if the object is a cuboid, or has no protrusions and only one obtuse angle that does not face the point of view, where it captures a single view of the object. The second mode is used if the object includes a single obtuse angle, and no protrusions, where it captures two views of the object. The third mode is used if the object includes a protrusion and/or more than one obtuse angle, overhang, protrusion, or combinations thereof, where it captures more than two views of the object.
