Abstract: A base station and user devices exchange signaling and responsively exchange user data over BS2D traffic links. The base station and user devices exchange more signaling and responsively exchange user data directly between user devices over D2D traffic links. The base station system selects one of a plurality of D2D configurations based on system conditions and transfers D2D configuration instructions to the user devices. Some of the D2D configurations have one user device as a hub device and the other user devices as non-hub devices. The base station and the user devices exchange more signaling and responsively transfer user data and signaling using the selected D2D configuration in response to the D2D configuration instructions.

Abstract: Embodiments relate generally to systems and methods for providing access to a trusted security zone container within a trusted security zone of a mobile device. An application may receive trusted service manager validation data from a trusted service manager. The application may also receive a trusted security zone master key, wherein the trusted security zone master key provides access to a plurality of trusted security zone containers within the trusted security zone. The application may hash the trusted service manager validation data with the trusted security zone master key. The application may generate the trusted security zone sub key based on hashing to access one or more containers. One or more signal may be transmitted to provision the set of one or more trusted security zone containers with the trusted security zone sub key. The application may provide the sub key to the trusted service manager to access a container.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure relate generally to systems and methods for customizing the service for a mobile device via near field communication (NFC). A mobile device may comprise an activation application operable to complete a provisioning process on the mobile device to enable the device for service. The activation application may require provisioning data to be input by a user or operator of the mobile device, where provisioning data may comprise service provider information, service preference information, branding information, technical parameters, user credentials, and/or other parameters needed to customize service enablement of the mobile device, and may be communicated to the mobile device via near field communication.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and software for transferring video messages between wireless communication devices in wireless communication networks are provided herein. In one example, a method of operating a wireless communication device is provided. The method includes wirelessly receiving a video message and responsively displaying the video message. The method also includes receiving first user instructions to modify the video message responsive to displaying the video message and modifying the video message into a modified video message responsive to the first user instructions and creating metadata that describes modifications to the video message to create the modified video message. The method also includes receiving second user instructions to transfer the modified video message and responsively transferring the modified video message with the metadata.

Abstract: A method of provisioning a mobile device is disclosed. The method comprises installing a first package on the mobile device, wherein the first package is configured to provision the mobile device with a first network. The method comprises installing a second package on the mobile device, wherein the second package is configured to provision the mobile device with a second network. The method comprises receiving one or more signals by the mobile device. The method comprises identifying at least a first network or at least a second network based on the one or more signals. The method comprises provisioning the mobile device with either the first network or the second network based on the identification of at least a first network or at least a second network, wherein provisioning comprises requesting provisioning data associated with at least a first network or at least a second network from a server.

Abstract: A method of providing wireless communication service to a mobile device is provided. The method comprises providing a system memory partition and a carrier memory partition on the mobile device. The method further comprising protecting two or more service brand packages from deletion by a mobile device reset. The method further comprises provisioning the mobile device with a first service brand network. The method further comprising resetting the mobile device, wherein resetting the mobile device comprises removing the mobile device from the first service brand network and deleting unprotected data stored on the mobile device. The method further comprising provisioning the mobile device with a second service brand network without re-installing previously installed data associated with the second service brand package.

Abstract: A method for receiving identity information for a mobile communication device is provided. The method comprises a memory module on the mobile communication device receiving, over a wireless communication link, a device identifier and an authentication key, wherein no identity information had previously been provided to the memory module. The memory module may be one of a subscriber identity module (SIM), a universal integrated circuit card (UICC), a universal subscriber identity module (USIM), or a removable identity module (R-UIM).

Abstract: A wireless communication device comprises a touchscreen and a processing system. The touchscreen is configured to display a graphical user interface. The processing system is configured to receive a freeze command from a user of the wireless communication device and, responsive to the freeze command, hold at least a portion of the touchscreen in a frozen state, direct the touchscreen to display a status notification indicating that the at least the portion of the touchscreen is in the frozen state, and unfreeze the at least the portion of the touchscreen responsive to an unfreeze event.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems and methods for deriving a wireless device location from base station signaling. In a particular embodiment, a method provides monitoring signaling transmitted by a base station serving a plurality of wireless communication devices. The method further provides identifying a wireless communication device of the plurality of wireless communication devices from the signaling and identifying an active set carried in the signaling that is associated with the wireless communication device. The method further provides determining a location of the wireless communication device based on the active set.

Abstract: A method of providing wireless communication service to a mobile phone is provided. The method comprises identifying common mobile phone applications and selectively supported mobile phone applications, installing the common mobile phone applications and the selectively supported mobile phone applications in read only memory of the mobile phone, each of the selectively supported applications associated with a selection switch initially disabled. The method further comprises, when activating the mobile phone, enabling at least one of the selection switches and writing at least one reference to branded content to a random access memory of the mobile phone based on a service plan associated with the mobile phone.

Abstract: Communication systems, media, and methods for authenticating and registering unauthenticated electronic devices are provided. The communication systems include authorized electronic devices that proxy authentication and registration for one or more unauthenticated electronic devices. The unauthenticated electronic devices connect to the authenticated electronic device over a personal area network and initiate a communication session—via the authenticated electronic devices—with an authentication server located on a secure broadband wireless network that connects the one or more authenticated electronic devices. When the authentication server authorizes the unauthenticated electronic devices to access the secure broadband wireless network, network configuration data is communicated to the unauthenticated electronic devices via the authenticated electronic devices.
