  • Patent number: 11632717
Abstract: In a wireless access node, a radio receives measurement reports from wireless User Equipment (UEs) that indicate past radio measurements taken at measurement locations. Baseband circuitry processes the measurement reports to determine radio metric variances at the measurement locations. The baseband circuitry determines UE locations for the wireless UEs. The baseband circuitry selects measurement time periods for the wireless UEs based on the radio metric variances at the measurement locations that correspond to the UE locations for the wireless UEs. The radio wirelessly transfers the selected measurement time periods to the wireless UEs. The wireless UEs use the selected measurement time periods to take the future radio measurements at the UE locations.

  • Publication number: 20230104272
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media herein dynamically adjust the number of elements active within a neighboring base station in order to reduce the back lobe overlap and thus reduce the interference caused by such an overlap. User devices assigned to communicate with an antenna array are monitored to determine if they are experiencing a decreased level of performance which may be caused by an overlapping back lobe from a neighboring cell site. If the user device's performance falls below a threshold value, the gain associated with the neighboring cell site is dynamically reduced in order to reduce the back lobe overlap.

  • Publication number: 20230090225
Abstract: Network circuitry within a wireless User Equipment (UE) transmits a registration request to a first Wireless Access Node (WAN) over a wireless communication link. In response, the network circuitry receives a UE capability inquiry from the first WAN and transmits it to user circuitry within the wireless UE. The user circuitry calculates Key Performance Indicator (KPI) information based on the wireless communication link, accesses UE capability information of the UE based on chipset and enabled functionality in the UE, generates intelligent UE capability information by modifying the UE capability information based on the KPI information, and transmits the intelligent UE capability information to the network circuitry.

  • Patent number: 11611937
Abstract: Methods are provided for enabling network operators to play a key role in allowing Cellular Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to recharge batteries based on RF parameters and/or a class of service the UAVs provide to users/customers. For example, a particular mobile network operator (MNO) has a UAV charging station deployed in it leased towers where it has base stations (eNB/gNB) deployed. The MNO can provide charging as a service to the UAVs. When more than one drone is requesting a charge, the MNO can prioritize which UAV has the highest priority. In some aspects, the MNO can prioritize the UAVs for charging based on a Quality of Service identifier. Additionally or alternatively, the MNO can prioritize the UAVs for charging based on a Network Slice Selection Assistance Information indicator.

  • Patent number: 11612012
Abstract: A wireless access node controls Discontinuous Reception (DRX) for User Equipment (UEs). The wireless access node exchanges user data with network elements over backhaul links and determines backhaul link performance. The wireless access node selects DRX schedules for the UEs based on the backhaul link performance and transfers the DRX schedules to the UEs. The UEs power their wireless receivers per their DRX schedules. The wireless access node transfers data notices to the UEs per the DRX schedules. The UEs wirelessly receive the data notices per their DRX schedules. The wireless access node transfers user data to the UEs per the DRX schedules and the data notices. The UEs wirelessly receive the user data per the DRX schedules and the data notices.

  • Patent number: 11602000
Abstract: When a first access node is considering setup of dual-connectivity service for a UE, the first access node could take into consideration the MU-MIMO grouping efficiency respectively of each of one or more candidate second access nodes, in order to decide whether to set up the dual-connectivity service for the UE and/or to decide which of the multiple second access nodes to use for the UE's dual-connectivity service. MU-MIMO grouping efficiency of a given access node could be a representative count of UEs that the access node has provided with MU-MIMO service per unit time. Thus, for instance, the first access node may decide to use a given candidate second access node for the dual-connectivity service of the UE, with the decision being based on the given candidate second access node having a higher MU-MIMO grouping efficiency than one or more other candidate second access nodes.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for dynamically capping an MCS index. A determination that one or more user devices are serviced by a sector of a cell site that has a Sector Power Ratio (SPR) above a threshold is made. • Patent number: 11582668
Abstract: A base station of a radio access network (RAN) can be configured to prioritize standalone (SA) 5G traffic over non-standalone (NSA) 5G traffic in certain situations, to improve user experiences associated with 5G-specific services implemented via SA 5G networks. The base station can generally instruct 5G user equipment (UE), such SA UEs and NSA UEs, to prioritize camping on an SA priority band. However, if a RAN load level is at or above a threshold, the base station can instruct NSA UEs to prioritize camping on a different priority band in order to relieve congestion on the SA priority band and/or preserve remaining capacity on the SA priority band for SA UEs. When the RAN load level is above a threshold, the base station can also, or alternately, at least briefly delay traffic associated with NSA UEs to prioritize transmission of traffic associated with SA UEs.

  • Patent number: 11582765
Abstract: A Radio Access Network (RAN) wirelessly serves a User Equipment (UE) over a frequency channel based on a radio signal metric. The RAN comprises baseband circuitry and a radio. The baseband circuitry determines when multiple Physical Cell Identifiers (PCIs) are available to serve the UE. In response, the baseband circuitry selects some resource blocks in the frequency channel and generates a UE instruction to measure the radio signal metric for the selected resource blocks. The radio receives the UE instruction for the baseband circuitry and wirelessly transfers the UE instruction to the UE. The radio wirelessly receives a measurement report from the UE that indicates the radio signal metric for the selected resource blocks. The radio transfers the measurement report to the baseband circuitry. The baseband circuitry receives the measurement report and responsively schedules the UE in the selected resource blocks based on the radio signal metric.
