    Abstract: An improved communications system adapted for use in a network, and configured to optimize the static slot size for transmitting a plurality of time-triggered messages. A preferred embodiment of the system includes a removable controller configured to determine the amount of overhead bits incurred within a slot, the amount of databytes that can be transmitted within the duration of a slot, and the amount of data to be communicated, and to perform an optimization algorithm relative thereto.
