  • Patent number: 5249099
Abstract: A ballast enclosure made of metal and including a rectangular enclosure body having mounting bosses integrally formed in the side walls thereof. Preferably, the bosses are formed by stamping the bosses into the sidewalls and are so constructed and arranged that they can receive self-tapping screws to attach the enclosure to an adjoining wall. Mounting flanges are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5023521
Abstract: A ballast circuit for a fluorescent lamp includes a magnetic choke coupled between the lamp and a power supply and an electronic starter circuit coupled across said lamp. The magnetic choke includes an inductor and a capacitor to limit the supply of current to the lamp. The capacitor provides power factor correction and limits current supply without dissipating power in the form of heat. The electronic starter circuit includes a triac coupled across the lamp that is triggered by a diac coupled to the power supply input through a capacitor. When a sufficient charge builds up on the capacitor, the diac is triggered and, in turn, the triac is triggered to provide current through the electrodes of the lamp to thereby preheat the electrodes. Almost as instantly as the triac is triggered, the diac is caused to stop triggering the triac and therefore, the triac becomes non-conducting and is removed from the cirucit.

  • Patent number: 5019938
Abstract: An enclosure for and/or enclosure containing a ballast circuit is substantially rectangular in shape and is subdivided into sections arranged in the following order: a first transformer section; a thermal protector section; a second transfer section; and a printed circuit board section, the thermal protector section comprising a pair of upstanding U-shaped channel members designed to securely receive thermal protectors and which serve as a barrier between the first and second transformer sections. The printed circuit board section and second transformer section are separated by means of an upstanding wedge-shaped rib employed to secure a printed circuit board in the circuit board sections.

  • Patent number: 4463283
Abstract: A rechargeable lamp assembly utilizing recharging contacts and a mounting unit for recharging purposes that contains mating contacts so that the lamp unit may be recharged when mounted on the mounting unit. The mounting unit includes another set of electrical contacts of the same configuration as those on the lamp unit. Thus a recharging unit for generating a recharging current may be utilized which is connectable either to the mounting unit, to recharge the lamp unit mounted thereon, or directly to the lamp unit. The lamp unit circuitry is adapted to accept any of a number of different recharging units, so as to provide for recharging from a battery source, an AC source, and an AC source with input power-failure indication. The bulb in the lamp unit may be releasably connected to the battery, so that the battery potential may be taken off as an independent power supply for another load, if desired.

  • Patent number: 4417681
Abstract: An electrically operated fastener driving device comprising a housing structure providing a manually engageable handle for engaging a user to portably operate the device, a front wall disposed in vertically extending relation forwardly and below the handle and a vertically extending fastener drive track disposed closely adjacent the front wall. A solenoid is carried by the housing structure forwardly of the handle and rearwardly and above the drive track and includes an elongated plunger having a longitudinal axis inclined with respect to the vertical. A cam and cam track mechanism is disposed between the upper end portion of the fastener driving element slidable in the drive track and the lower end portion of the plunger for causing a downward stroke of the plunger in response to the energization of the solenoid to effect a drive stroke of the fastener driving element.
