  • Publication number: 20240114356
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a wireless communication device (WCD) may communicate, during a first communication period, with an audio device via a wireless link configured with a first service interval and a first service period. The WCD may communicate, during a second communication period, with the audio device via the wireless link configured with a second service interval and a second service period based at least in part on detection of a trigger condition comprising one or more of: a change of a signal strength, a change of one or more concurrent wireless links on one or more frequency bands that overlap with the wireless link, a change of a use state of the WCD, or a change in channel congestion or interference. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a wireless communication device (WCD) may communicate, via a wireless link, with an audio device using a first configuration having first values for communication parameters. The WCD may transmit an indication to switch to a second configuration based at least in part on a configuration switch trigger, the configuration switch trigger being based at least in part on one or more of a link quality metric associated with the wireless link or a change of a use state of the WCD, and the second configuration having second values for the communication parameters associated with a reduction in voltage-induced interference in an audio output of the audio device. Numerous other aspects are described.

  • Publication number: 20240098640
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques generally provide for modifying a bit rate of a real-time stream at a station (STA). The STA may determine an average wake duration within an interval for communications with an access point (AP), and may compare the average to a target active duration for efficient power usage. In some other cases, the STA may learn a scheduling pattern of the AP, and may reduce the bitrate to eliminate the need for a portion of the wake duration having relatively lower data transmissions. Modifying the bit rate may support adjusting the active duration of the STA to be closer to the target active duration while maintaining a similar quality of the real-time stream (such as, a lossless stream).

  • Patent number: 11917542
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for adjusting a time period to delay entering a power save mode (leak guard) for wireless communications. In one aspect, a wireless communication device may adjust a time period to delay entering a power save mode. The time period is associated with the wireless communication device remaining awake to prevent an access point from transmitting to the wireless communication device while the wireless communication device is in the power save mode. The wireless communication device also may provide, to the AP, an indication that the wireless communication device is entering a power save mode, and the wireless communication device may enter the power save mode. Entering the power save mode is at least the adjusted time period after providing the indication to the AP.

  • Publication number: 20240022955
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A station (STA) may receive a first signal including an indication of a set of frequency channels for a set of target wake time (TWT) sessions that recur according to a service interval. In some examples, the first signal may indicate a respective frequency channel of the set of frequency channels for each TWT session of the set of target wake time sessions. Each TWT session of the set of TWT sessions may have an associated service period that the STA may be in an awake state. The STA may switch, for the first TWT session, from the first frequency channel to the second frequency channel. In some examples, based on the switching, the STA may communicate a signal during a service period associated with the first TWT session over the second frequency channel.

  • Publication number: 20230362811
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, an access point may start a target wake time (TWT) service period (SP). The access point may receive an end of SP (EOSP) indication from a station. The access point may stop the TWT SP before a scheduled end of the TWT SP based on receiving the EOSP indication. Numerous other aspects are described.

  • Publication number: 20180284864
Abstract: A method for dynamic clock and voltage scaling (DCVS) in a central processing unit (CPU) subsystem of a wireless communication device. The method may be implemented by a DCVS controller of the wireless communication device. The DCVS controller monitors data packets communicated by the CPU subsystem over a wireless local area network (WLAN) and determines one or more metrics of the data packets communicated by the CPU subsystem. The DCVS controller then dynamically configures an operating frequency of one or more hardware resources of the CPU subsystem based at least in part on the one or more metrics. The one or more metrics may include, for example, a packet rate, payload size, aggregation factor, packet size, or number of descriptors associated with the data packets.

  • Patent number: 9992723
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe various techniques for handling data stall in wireless local area networks (WLANs). These techniques include, for example, a method in which wireless communications are switched at a wireless station from a first network device associated with a first radio access technology (RAT) (e.g., WLAN technology) to a second network device associated with a second RAT (e.g., wireless wide area network (WWAN) technology). The wireless station may then monitor network devices associated with the first RAT, including the first network device. The wireless station may filter results from the monitoring based at least in part on one or more threshold value and identify, based on the filtered results, one of the network devices as suitable for the wireless communications. The wireless communications may then be switched at the wireless station from the second network device to the one network device identified as suitable for the wireless communications.

  • Publication number: 20170353226
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device (e.g., an access point or a station) capable of supporting multiple chain configuration modes may monitor traffic on a wireless channel. The wireless device may, based on the monitoring, determine a series of values for a metric that is indicative of communication conditions. The metric may be a packet rate, channel congestion, or signal strength. The wireless device may dynamically select one of the supported chain configuration modes in which to operate based on the series of values for the metric. In some cases, the wireless device may compute a value for the metric based on the series of values and compare the value of the metric to a predetermined threshold. In such cases, selection of the chain configuration mode may be based on the results of the comparison. In some examples, one or metrics may be used.
