Publication number: 20140214862Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for performing classification of documents or performing other tasks based on rules. The rules may include context rules that define a mapping that relates a value and context in a document to an attribute to which the value corresponds. Products are selected for labeling with attributes by identifying patterns, e.g. values and contexts that are not covered by a current rule set. Those products having a highest score are selected for labeling in a crowd sourcing forum, where the score is based on the number of non-covered patterns and a frequency of occurrence of the non-covered patterns in a document corpus. Proposed rules are generated for frequently occurring patterns and submitted to analysts for one or both of completion and validation. Proposed rules may include a proposed attribute for a frequently occurring value and corresponding context.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2013Publication date: July 31, 2014Applicant: Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.Inventors: Nikesh Lucky Garera, Narasimhan Rampalli, Dintyala Venkata Subrahmanya Ravikant, Srikanth Subramaniam, Chong Sun, Heather Dawn Yalin

Publication number: 20050273514Abstract: A system for automated and optimized file transfers among devices in a network comprises a client configured to request a file transfer, a server configured to transfer the requested file to the client, and a scheduling module configured to schedule delivery of the file to the client. The scheduling module preferably schedules the delivery of the file to be completed by a deadline. In an alternate embodiment, the file is transferred to a device in the network that did not send the request. The file transfer may be requested by a user at the client or may be requested by a pre-fetch module of the client.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 9, 2001Publication date: December 8, 2005Inventors: Ray Milkey, Srikanth Subramaniam, John Ruttenberg, Walter Lichtenstein, David Lemke, Ashfaq Munshi, Luis Rojas, Fouad Tobagi

Publication number: 20020080721Abstract: Data transfer rates on a network are controlled in conjunction with TCP/IP protocols by limiting the available space in a receive buffer located on the receiver. Limits are generated by either moderating the rate that data is removed from the receive buffer or changing the receive buffer's size. Transfer rates are reduced to decrease the impact large transfers have on other network traffic and to reduce the total number of lost data packets. Reduced rates and priorities can be managed by scheduling systems.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2001Publication date: June 27, 2002Inventors: Fouad A. Tobagi, David Lemke, Srikanth Subramaniam

Patent number: 5377320Abstract: A unique graphics pipeline and method for utilizing the same to render trimmed non-uniform rational b-spline (NURBS) surfaces is described. To render a graphics primitive such as a trimmed NURBS, the primitive first is processed through a compilation step, followed by a two phase traversal step and a display step. Through this process, the NURBS surface is reduced at creation time into a form amenable for fast processing subsequently during traversal. At compilation the trimmed NURBS is broken down into monotone v-regions which remain valid for subsequent views and renderings. The form produced by compilation is independent of the tessellation step size; therefore the form remains valid under heavy changes to modeling and/or viewing transformations. Furthermore, a substantial portion of the processing complexity for rendering the primitive is absorbed at compilation, thus minimizing the complexity of tessellation at traversal.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1992Date of Patent: December 27, 1994Assignee: Sun Microsystems, Inc.Inventors: Salim S.
