  • Publication number: 20120052953
Abstract: A system, method and computer product that leverages location information for a positioning receiver to alter elements in a virtual gaming world under influence from the real world elements (e.g., geographic position of wireless gaming device and geographic location of buildings and the like) to provide a unique gaming experience. The system, method and computer product is configured to be executed on a wireless gaming device to be operable in a first mode wherein one or more features of the location based software product is dependent on a geographical location of the wireless gaming device; and operates in a second mode wherein the one or more features of the location based game system are static. Another embodiment relates to a method providing a virtual reward for playing a location-based game when a real-world product and/or service is purchased. Another embodiment relates to providing a real world reward based on performance of the location-based game.

  • Patent number: 8090415
Abstract: A method and system of providing a low battery charge warning in an electronic device that employs a rechargeable power source such as a rechargeable battery. The method and system determine whether a charge state of a battery is sufficient to provide the device with power for a predicted usage. The predicted usage and predicted power requirement may be determined from a usage profile of the device. The predicted usage and power requirement may also be determined from data associated with an event record as may be stored in a calendar application on the device. The method and system may provide an advance notice to the user of the device of a potential low battery situation.

  • Publication number: 20110225151
Abstract: A method for classifying digital media files includes obtaining geographical information from geographical identification metadata associated with one or more digital media files stored in a memory of a mobile terminal, and assigning a respective ranking to the one or more digital media files within one or more media classification categories based on the obtained geographical information. A summary view of the one or more ranked digital media files is displayed, the summary view including two axes, each axis corresponding to at least one of the one or more media classification categories. A travel profile for a user of the mobile terminal, including the user's travel preferences as determined by the respective ranking of at least one ranked digital media file in one or more of the media classification categories, is generated, and relevant travel information is presented to the user. Related devices and computer program products are also discussed.

  • Publication number: 20110205850
Abstract: To enhance calendar functionality, location tracking may be used to draw an inference that a calendar event has been satisfied. Upon the inferred satisfaction of the calendar event, a status of the calendar event may be updated from “outstanding” to “completed.” If the calendar event is shared with another person, a message may be transmitted to an electronic device of the other individual to alert that person to the completion of the calendar event. Location tracking may include identifying that an electronic device moves toward a location associated with the calendar event, identifying that the electronic device comes to a relative stop within a predetermined distance of the location associated with the calendar event, and departs the location associated with the calendar event.
