  • Patent number: 11599149
Abstract: Systems and method are provided in which docking stations provide power to an Information Handling System (IHS) that is coupled to the docking station and provide the IHS with access to I/O (Input/Output) devices coupled to the docking station. Docking stations include a power circuit receiving a supply of DC power from an external power source. Docking stations also include a docking port used by the docking station to supply DC power to the docked IHS. Docking stations also include an I/O port the receives a connection from an external display, where a DC power input is received via the I/O port from the coupled external display. A controller of the docking station apportions the DC power input received from the coupled external display between operations of the docking station and the DC power supplied to the IHS via the docking port.

  • Patent number: 11592893
Abstract: A quality of a mechanical connection within an information handling system may be inferred based on pressure. An electronic pressure sensor is disposed between two components operating within the information handling system. The electronic pressure sensor generates an output signal in response to a clamping pressure and/or clamping force between the two components. Performance of a processor operating within the information handling system may be controlled in response to the clamping pressure and/or clamping force. A speed of a cooling fan operating within the information handling system may be controlled in response to the clamping pressure and/or clamping force. Any internal components operating within the information handling system may be controlled in response to the clamping pressure and/or clamping force.

  • Patent number: 11595407
Abstract: Plural Internet of Things (IoT) gateways detect, secure against and remediate malicious code with an autonomous communication of tokens between the IoT gateways on a time schedule. Detection of an invalid token or a token communication outside of a scheduled time indicates that malicious code may have interfered with token generation or communication. Once malicious code is verified on an IoT gateway, the failed gateway is remediated to an operational state, such as with a re-imaging by another IoT gateway through an in band communication or a re-imaging by a server information handling system through an out of band communication.

  • Patent number: 11568729
Abstract: An information handling system includes a host device and multiple monitor devices. One of the monitor devices is configured as a parent monitor device, and the remaining monitor devices are configured as child monitor devices. The parent monitor device receives a user presence detect (UPD) status signal, and queries all of the child monitor devices for a current UPD status. In response to the queries, the parent monitor consolidates the current UPD status from each of the child monitor devices and the current UPD status of the parent monitor device. Based on the consolidated current UPD status and based on a UPD policy, the parent monitor device sets a current user status as a user absence or presence. In response to the processor being in a low power state and the current user status being the user presence, the patent monitor device provides a wake notification to the host device.

Detection of an invalid token or a token communication outside of a scheduled time indicates that malicious code may have interfered with token generation or communication. • Patent number: 11416028
Abstract: An information handling system includes a first device, a host device, and a dock. The dock communicates with the first device over a first physical communication link, and with the host device over a second physical communication link. The dock receives a vendor defined message from the host device over the second physical communication link. In response to the first device being a destination device for the vendor defined message, the dock converts the vendor defined message to a second message having a different protocol as compared to the vendor defined message and designates an embedded controller of the dock as a virtual destination for the second message. In response to the first device being the destination device, the embedded controller regenerates the second message as a second vendor defined message and provides the second vendor defined message to the first device via the second physical communication link.

  • Patent number: 11409853
Abstract: A system and method using a system for authenticating a person as an authorized user before waking an information handling system from an inactive state. A sensor receives an input from a person, captures information about the person and a microcontroller unit (MCU) determines if the captured information matches information corresponding to an authorized user. If the MCU determines the captured information corresponds to information corresponding to an authorized user, the MCU sends a command to one of a central processing unit (CPU) or an embedded controller (EC) to change operation of the information handling system to an active state. If the MCU determines the captured information does not correspond to information corresponding to an authorized user, no command is sent to the CPU or EC to change operation of the information handling system.

  • Patent number: 11336658
Abstract: Plural Internet of Things (IoT) gateways detect, secure against and remediate malicious code with an autonomous communication of tokens between the IoT gateways on a time schedule. Detection of an invalid token or a token communication outside of a scheduled time indicates that malicious code may have interfered with token generation or communication. Once malicious code is verified on an IoT gateway, the failed gateway is quarantined from the passing of the token and functions of the failed IoT gateway are assigned to other IoT gateways.

  • Patent number: 11334141
Abstract: A system and method for ensuring information present in volatile memory is moved to persistent memory before power is removed. An information handling system stores a time value corresponding to an amount of time for power to be supplied to the information handling system after a signal is received to power down the information handling system. An embedded controller determines the amount of information present in volatile memory, determines an amount of time needed to move the information to persistent memory, and adjusts the time value as needed to ensure power is supplied to the system until the information has been moved to persistent memory.

  • Patent number: 11281298
Abstract: An information handling system includes a touch sensitive area, which in turn includes an array of pressure sensors and a haptics controller. The array of pressure sensors includes a first pressure sensor. When activated, the first pressure sensor provides an XY location based on a location of the first pressure sensor in the array of pressure sensors. The haptics controller receives an XY location from the first pressure sensor, and a location of a pen device from a pen digitizer circuit. The haptics controller calculates whether the XY location and the location of the pen device are substantially the same location. In response to the XY location and the location of the pen device being substantially the same location, the haptics controller disables haptic feedback within the touch sensitive area.
