  • Patent number: 9118477
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for efficient error free packet reception using hybrid automatic repeat-request (HARQ) in a wireless communication system. In one embodiment this is accomplished by receiving in a plurality of modulated digital data as transmission signal at a receiver transmitted through a plurality of transmission paths from a transmitter, demodulating the received transmission signals, estimating the difference between the received transmission signals and the ideal expected signal constellation in order to determine the weights for each constellation symbols, applying the determined weights for each symbol-wise of the received transmission data, storing the weighted data as final data in a buffer of a HARQ combining unit and processing the stored final data to determine whether the received data frames are correct.

  • Publication number: 20140045485
Abstract: A method and system for power saving of a remote device determines whether to offload the application to a cloud server by comparing the cost of computing the application data in the remote device to that of computing the same application data in a cloud server. If the former cost is greater, then the remote device offloads the application to a cloud server. The method takes into the account the parameters such as distance between the remote device and the access network, the power required to transmit the application data from remote device to the cloud server for calculating the power required for computing the application data in the cloud server.

  • Patent number: 8423607
Abstract: A method and/or apparatus for intelligent domain name server selection are provided. A mobile device may wirelessly receive one or more domain name server Internet Protocol (IP) addresses from a network serving agent during a call setup or a network registration. The mobile device then determines whether one or more of the received domain name server IP addresses is valid prior to attempting to contact a domain name server associated with one of the received domain name server IP addresses. A fallback sequence of valid domain name server IP addresses may be generated and provided (either individually or as a group) from a link layer to an application layer for domain name resolution. Received domain name server IP addresses that are geographically closer to a current location of the mobile device or its visited network may be given priority.
