  • Patent number: 11422173
Abstract: A Power Management Controller (PMC) which manages power states of a platform, informs a power accumulator device to start measuring the platform power during entry into the low power state (e.g., S0iX). The power accumulator device starts measuring the power until a stop message comes from the PMC. The PMC on detection of any wake event initiates a stop message to the power accumulator device. Once an operating system (OS) context is restored, software can read the measured data from the power accumulator device. The measured data is accessible to a host software using standard software application programming interface (API) and can be used to influence the power policies of the system.

  • Patent number: 11415832
Abstract: Particular embodiments described herein provide for an electronic device that includes a display, a backlight for the display, and one or more ambient light guiding layers to supplement the backlight with ambient light. In an example, one of the one or more ambient light guiding layers is located on a back side of the electronic device. An ambient light guide monitoring engine can monitor an intensity of ambient light and a display engine can use data from the ambient light monitoring engine to determine the intensity of the backlight for the display.

  • Publication number: 20220215099
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates method, system and apparatus to prevent denial of service (DOS) attacks on PCIe based computing devices. In an exemplary embodiment, an independent register is used in combination with a filter driver and additional logic to form an integrity check for power down instructions. An exemplary system includes a register circuitry corresponding to the IP device, the register circuitry having a designated storage bit to indicate an unlocked state of the register; a filter driver to receive a first power state transition request when the IP device is idle after a predetermined period, the power state transition request defining a timeout period; a controller to change the power state of the IP device to the unlock state; a decision logic to receive and authenticate a second power state transition request in response to validation of register circuitry being unlocked.

  • Patent number: 9589567
Abstract: A system and method for controlling processing equipment. The system includes a control computer communicatively coupled to a terminal computer. Voice data for each of several authorized operators at a plant is stored. The control computer is programmed to implement a voice recognition and authenticated voice-activated control program. The control computer, responsive to receiving a voice-derived input, analyzes the voice-derived input to determine if the voice-derived input matches the voice data for any of the authorized operators. Provided the voice-derived input matches the voice data, the control computer determines at least one command from the voice-derived input for controlling the processing equipment to modify an operation at the plant. The control computer executes the command to control the processing equipment.

  • Publication number: 20140229399
Abstract: A method includes receiving a request associated with loading or unloading of cargo at a terminal. The method also includes determining a recommended slot in response to the request, where the recommended slot includes a time slot for loading the cargo onto a cargo vehicle or unloading the cargo from the cargo vehicle. In addition, the method includes transmitting the recommended slot for delivery to a mobile device of an operator of the cargo vehicle. The method may also include receiving a signal from the mobile device to open an entrance of the terminal when the cargo vehicle arrives at the terminal and, in response to the signal, opening the entrance of the terminal to allow the cargo vehicle to enter the terminal. The method may further include, upon completion of the loading or unloading of the cargo at the terminal, wirelessly transmitting a digitally-signed document to the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 7769947
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods that may be implemented in a mobile computer system. An exemplary method may include initiating a split of a storage volume of the mobile computer system. The storage volume may comply with a fault tolerant storage technology. Suitable technologies include, but are not limited to, those based on Redundant Array of Independent (or Inexpensive) Disks (RAID). In one aspect, the initiation of the split of the storage volume may be based, at least in part, on power availability. Then, a reduction of a power consuming state of a first storage device of the volume may be initiated.
