  • Publication number: 20230224999
Abstract: Provided is a method for a user equipment (UE). The UE generates a first information for the UE for transmission to a network device. The first information is associated with a small data transmission (SDT) procedure in an inactive state of the UE. The UE obtains a first configuration information from the network device. The first configuration information is determined with reference to the first information. The UE determines whether to perform the SDT procedure in the inactive state according to the first configuration information. The UE, in response to determining to perform the SDT procedure in the inactive state, performs the SDT procedure in the inactive state according to the first configuration information.

  • Patent number: 11700656
Abstract: Peer devices may wirelessly communicate with each other over a bidirectional sidelink logical channel (LCH) through an established bidirectional sidelink radio bearer. An initiating device of the peer devices may dynamically select a logical channel ID for establishing a fully bidirectional or semi-bidirectional SLRB. At least two alternative sidelink radio resource control (PC5-RRC) procedures may ensure the SLRB parameters are configured correctly in the established logical channel. The procedures also allow the network to configure a limited SLRB which is used to couple the SLRB configuration in the direction in which limited traffic (e.g. feedback information such as robust header compression feedback and/or status reports) is transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20230217288
Abstract: Systems and methods for performing measurements of one or more cells during an small data transmission (SDT) procedure between a user equipment (UE) and a network when the UE is in a radio resource control (RRC) INACTIVE state are described herein. Beam and/or cell measurements taken during an SDT measurement period of the SDT procedure may be used to determine one or more respective cell qualities, among other possibilities. Beginnings and endings of the SDT measurement period, and the manner (timing) for taking measurements within the SDT measurement period, are also described. The cell qualities so determined can then be used to monitor, during the SDT measurement period, for a measurement event, which causes the UE to send a measurement report to the network having data determined using those cell qualities, and/or to send messaging intended to induce the network to change the RRC state of the UE.

  • Publication number: 20230189048
Abstract: To accommodate a mix of high frequency carriers and lower frequency carriers, a protocol stack may include a radio link control (RLC) entity that allows configuration of status reporting control parameters on per carrier, or per subcarrier spacing. Alternatively, a protocol stack may include two RLC entities, one for handling high frequency carriers, and another for handling lower frequency carriers. (High frequency carriers and lower frequency carriers may be distinguished based on a frequency threshold.) Furthermore, a user equipment may transmit (to the network) an indication of its L2 buffer size. The network may configure the UE and/or control scheduling, to ensure the UE's L2 buffer does not overrun. Alternatively, the UE may indicate that it can support a percentage of a maximum buffer size. The network may configure the UE and/or control scheduling so that the UE's buffer occupancy does not exceed the percentage.

  • Publication number: 20230180336
Abstract: Coordinated leaving for a UE having a first SIM and a second SIM may include decoding, at a baseband processor, an RRC reconfiguration message associated with the first SIM received from a first network. A communication corresponding to the second SIM received from a second network is decoded while the baseband processor is processing the received RRC reconfiguration message. The communication received from the second network is determined to comprise a higher priority than the RRC reconfiguration procedure. Based on determining, a UAI message corresponding to the first SIM is encoded by the baseband processor for transmission to the first network. The UM message is configured to inform the first network of coordinated leaving and abortion of the RRC reconfiguration procedure. The first SIM is transitioned to an idle mode. An RRC request corresponding to the second SIM is encoded by the baseband processor for transmission to the second network.

  • Publication number: 20230122107
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) device may reside in a state of dual connectivity with a master cell group (MCG) and a secondary cell group (SCG), wherein the radio access technologies of the MCG and the SCG are different. While in the dual connectivity state, the UE device may transition to a mode of reduced activity (e.g., processing and/or RF activity) relative to the secondary cell group (SCG) in order to save power, e.g., when traffic flow via the SCG is below a threshold, or when scheduling activity on the SCG is low. Various mechanisms may be employed to reduce activity, e.g., mechanisms such as reduction of beam monitoring, deactivation of secondary cells of the SCG, reduction of number of active antenna elements, employment of longer periods for periodic measurement and reporting processes, etc.

  • Publication number: 20230102755
Abstract: Systems and methods for small data transmissions (SDTs) between a user equipment (UE) and a network are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the UE determines whether to perform an SDT procedure by comparing its own mobility state to an SDT mobility state condition provided by the network. The UE may also determine whether to perform the SDT procedure by comparing the size of user plane (UP) data to be sent with the SDT procedure to an SDT mobility-based data amount threshold provided by the network. Upon entering an RRC_INACTIVE state, the UE may start a validity timer relative to any such SDT mobility state condition and/or SDT mobility-based data amount threshold, and invalidate these once the validity timer expires. In some disclosed embodiments, the UE reports its determined mobility state to the network during an SDT procedure so that the network can accordingly select configuration parameters for SDT procedures.
