  • Publication number: 20220303730
Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for supporting switching between point to point and point to multipoint delivery with service continuity for broadcast and multicast services in a wireless communication system. A cellular base station and a wireless device may establish a wireless link. The cellular base station may provide information configuring an over the air delivery type with which to receive a broadcast or multicast service, which may be received by the wireless device. The cellular base station may transmit the service using the configured delivery type, and the wireless device may correspondingly receive the service. The cellular base station may provide information configuring the wireless device to switch to a different over the air delivery type, with service continuity. The cellular base station may then transmit the service using that delivery type, and the wireless device may correspondingly receive the service.

  • Patent number: 11445481
Abstract: This disclosure relates to providing early packet delivery to radio link control. A transport block may be received by a wireless device via wireless communication. The transport block may fail a transport block cyclic redundancy check, but a subset of the code blocks of the transport block may pass code block cyclic redundancy checks. Packet data from the subset of the code blocks that pass code block cyclic redundancy checks may be provided to a radio link control layer of the wireless device, based at least in part on the successful code block cyclic redundancy checks for those code blocks.

  • Patent number: 11432220
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform methods for network assisted side-link resource configuration for unicast and/or multi-cast/groupcast communications in V2X networks. A UE may, after establishing an RRC connection with a base station, transmit, to the base station, V2X connection information. The V2X connection information may include a V2X identifier associated with the UE and a V2X identifier associated with a target UE. The UE may receive, from the base station, a side-link configuration for data transmission with the target UE. The side-link configuration may include a resource allocation defined in time and frequency (e.g., a transmit/receive pool). The UE may communicate with the target UE using the resource allocation included in the side-link configuration.

  • Publication number: 20220264404
Abstract: Aspects are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for secondary cell group (SCG) addition. A wireless device may establish communication with a first base station that is comprised a master cell group (MCG). The wireless device may receive signaling from the first base station configuring a second base station in a secondary cell group (SCG). The wireless device may establish communication with the second base station based on the signaling received from the first base station. At a first time, the wireless device may set the second base station in a deactivated state based on the signaling from the first base station configuring the second base station or establishing communication with the second base station. At a later time, the wireless device may set the second base station in an activated state and communicate with the first base station and the second base station.

  • Publication number: 20220256353
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform methods to implement mechanisms for non-stand-alone unlicensed band cells that support single carrier capable UEs. A UE may camp on a licensed band cell of a RAN and transmit a request to connect. The UE may receive, from the licensed band cell, a connection setup message indicating a switch to an unlicensed band cell of the RAN and receive, from the unlicensed band cell, a reference signal. The UE may transmit to the unlicensed band cell and in response to confirming, based at least in part of the reference signal, radio quality and/or downlink timing of the unlicensed band cell, a connection complete/connection resume message.

  • Publication number: 20220240079
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) includes first and second subscriber identity modules (SIMs), possibly subscribed to different carriers. When the first SIM is in a connected state and the second SIM is in an idle state, the UE may need to periodically tune away a radio from a first frequency used for communication under the first SIM to a second frequency used for idle mode activity under the second SIM. The UE may provide to the network of the first SIM the second SIMs traffic activity pattern and/or serving frequency so that the network may provide coordinated configuration and/or scheduling for the UE device, e.g., in order to make the action of tuning away (and tuning back) the radio more efficient and/or to decrease the network impact of such radio tune aways (e.g., to decrease wasted uplink scheduling and wasted downlink transmissions for the first SIM).

  • Patent number: 11388628
Abstract: This disclosure relates to providing in order packet delivery for compressed radio bearers. A wireless device may receive packet data at a packet data convergence protocol layer. A packet reordering timer length to use for the packet data at the packet data convergence protocol layer may be adaptively selected from multiple possible packet reordering timer lengths. The packet data may be processed at the packet data convergence protocol layer using the selected packet reordering timer length. The packet reordering timer length may be selected based at least in part on a robust header compression decompressor state of the packet data convergence protocol layer.

  • Patent number: 11350260
Abstract: This disclosure relates to detecting duplicate public warning system messages in a cellular communication system. A wireless device may receive a public warning system indication from a cellular base station during a paging occasion. The public warning system indication may indicate that system information provided by the cellular base station includes a public warning system message. The wireless device may determine whether the public warning system message is a duplicate public warning system message. The wireless device may determine whether to decode the system information including the public warning system message based at least in part on whether the public warning system message is a duplicate public warning system message. The system information including the public warning system message may not be decoded if the public warning system message is determined to be a duplicate public warning system message.

  • Patent number: 11343640
Abstract: A device and method for a user equipment (UE) to implement power savings mechanisms when operating within a significant location. The UE identifies that the UE is at a significant location. The significant location is a location relative to a currently camped cell of a network. At a first time and at the significant location, the UE performs a type of operation related to the network connection. The UE stores information corresponding to the performance of the type of operation at the first time in a profile associated with the significant location. At a second time and at the significant location, the UE performs the type of operation related to the network connection. The performance of the type of operation at the second time is modified based on the information stored in the profile associated with the significant location.

  • Publication number: 20220159669
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for PDCCH enhancements for group-based paging indications. A user equipment device may be configured to receive, from a network, an indication of a paging occasion via a PG-RNTI and/or via at least 6 bits of a DCI. A value of the PG-RNTI may be associated with the paging occasion as well as a set of UEs, including the UE. The UE may be configured to monitor the paging occasion based on the value of the PG-RNTI and receive, during the paging occasion, a paging indication via at least six bits of a DCI, where each bit of the at least six bits may indicate a paging indication for a particular set of UEs and the particular set of UEs may be a subset of the set of UEs. The UE may also be configured to, in response to determining that the UE has a paging message, decode a corresponding PDSCH.

  • Patent number: 11317473
Abstract: A device may operate within a specified frequency band within a specified coverage area of a wireless cellular network served by a cell. The device may monitor, during a cell-specific paging window, paging messages transmitted by the cell within the cell-specific paging window to devices operating within the specified coverage area and targeted to receive paging messages. The device may enter an idle state if the monitoring indicates that the paging messages do not include a respective paging message intended for the device. If the monitoring indicates that the paging messages include a paging message intended for the device, the device may process the paging message. Furthermore, the device may indicate to the cell, when attaching to the cell, whether the device has a capability to support standalone operation within the specified frequency band. If the indication is that the device does not support such standalone operation, the cell may not issue paging messages to the device.

  • Patent number: 11317462
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform methods to communicate an RRC message (such as an RRC configuration message) having a size that exceeds PDCP SDU size constraints. According to some embodiments, a base station may generate a large RRC message, e.g., by encoding an RRC configuration as a single large RRC message. The base station may then segment the RRC message, e.g., at the RRC layer or the PDCP layer, into a series of PDUs that comply with the size constraints. According to some embodiments, the base station may encode an RRC configuration as a series of RRC messages, each complying with the size constraints. The base station may further provide an indication of when a receiving user equipment should apply the RRC configuration.
