  • Publication number: 20170006522
Abstract: A restriction control apparatus configured to perform restriction control of communication of a user apparatus in a mobile communication system includes an information obtaining unit configured to obtain, from a user information management apparatus in the mobile communication system, group identification information indicating a group to which the user apparatus belongs, and a restriction determination unit configured, when receiving a communication request from the user apparatus, to determine whether the group to which the user apparatus belongs is a control target or not based on the group identification information and group identification information of a control target determined by the restriction control apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8908512
Abstract: A method is provided for performing a rate shaping of multiple data streams which are to be transmitted through a network. The network has the capability to perform a rate shaping using a first rate shaping scheme and at least one other rate shaping scheme other than said first rate shaping scheme. The method can include determining based on the resources of the network the maximum number n of data streams for which said first rate shaping scheme can be applied as a rate shaping scheme, selecting n data streams among the multiple data streams which are to be transmitted and performing a transcoding on them to perform a rate shaping, and performing a rate shaping for other data streams using a different rate shaping scheme other than said first rate shaping scheme.

  • Patent number: 8743719
Abstract: There is provided a method for allocating network rates to a plurality of mobile terminals through which users access possibly different applications through a network having a certain limited total bandwidth to allocate. The method comprises an optimization operation which uses a quality utility function as input which indicates for a certain application the quality perceived by a user depending on the allocated data rate, preferably further also depending on the channel condition. Then there is performed an optimizing operation such that it calculates a combined quality measure based on the quality utility functions for the different applications and for different possible resource allocations to the plurality of applications in such a way that said quality measure is optimized.

  • Publication number: 20120192242
Abstract: An evaluation server for evaluating a plurality of videos, said evaluation server comprising: a module for identifying among a plurality of videos those videos which capture the same event by determining whether the video has been taken from a location lying at or within a certain geographic area and by determining whether the video has been taken at or within a certain time; said evaluation server further comprising: a module for receiving said plurality of videos in real-time; a module for repeatedly obtaining scene-based relevance parameters to obtain updated priority values of said videos; a module for rearranging the priority of the processing of said videos based on the updated priority values.

  • Publication number: 20120062791
Abstract: A method for transferring a video stream having a first resolution from a first user equipment to a second user equipment having a larger screen and being capable of offering a plurality of second resolutions which are higher than said first resolution, wherein one or more third user equipments are also receiving video streams through the same network entity which has a limited bandwidth capacity, said method comprising: performing an optimization operation to determine the second resolution to be selected among said plurality of second resolutions at said target user equipment for the video stream, wherein said optimization operation comprises: using utility functions as an input to said optimizing operation, said utility functions having been determined in advance and respectively indicating for each video stream the quality perceived by a user depending on the resolution of the video stream and the allocated data rate, wherein said optimizing operation calculates a combined quality measure based on the uti

  • Publication number: 20110211650
Abstract: A method for performing a rate shaping of multiple data streams which are to be transmitted through a network, said network having the capability to perform a rate shaping using a first rate shaping scheme and at least one other rate shaping scheme other than said first rate shaping scheme, wherein said first rate shaping scheme has a smaller impact on the quality of the data stream than said at least one other rate shaping scheme but requires more computational resources than said at least one other rate shaping scheme, said method comprising: determining based on the resources of the network the maximum number n of data streams for which said first rate shaping scheme can be applied as a rate shaping scheme; selecting n data streams among the multiple data streams which are to be transmitted and performing a transcoding on them to perform a rate shaping; performing a rate shaping for other data streams using a different rate shaping scheme other than said first rate shaping scheme.
