Abstract: Wireless communications apparatus and methods configured to facilitate efficient cell reselection by a user equipment camped on a serving cell of a 5G new radio base station in a panic mode are provided. Aspects of the present disclosure include limiting the number of beams of a neighboring cell that may be measured as part of a cell reselection evaluation process to determine whether the neighboring cell is a suitable cell on which the user equipment can camp.
