  • Patent number: 7806916
Abstract: An application system for a stent comprising a catheter having at least one retention structure permanently connected to the catheter and a stent drawn onto the catheter using at least one retention element. The retention structure provides a retention area which receives and fixes the retention element. The retention element of the stent and the retention structure of the catheter have their geometry and position tailored to one another in such a way that the retention element is located in the retention area of the retention structure in the non-expanded state of the stent and the retention structure and/or the retention element are offset to one another upon expansion of the stent or at least in the expanded state of the stent so that the retention element is no longer located in the retention area of the retention structure.

  • Publication number: 20060241742
Abstract: A stent comprises a tubular base body which is open on the front sides thereof and has a peripheral wall that is at least partially covered with a coating system consisting of at least one polymer carrier and at least one pharmacologically active substance, which is released into the surrounding tissue once the stent has been implanted in the human or animal body. The invention creates a coating system which enables an optimum local application of the active ingredient. A concentration of the substance, a morphological structure of the carrier(s), a material modification of the carrier(s), and/or a layer thickness of the carrier(s), are predetermined in the longitudinal direction of the stent, in such a way that the elution varies locally in the longitudinal direction of the stent and is determined according to the pathophysiological and/or rheological conditions to be expected during the application.

  • Publication number: 20050096722
Abstract: A stent implantation system comprising a catheter and an expandable vessel support which is releasable fixed in the region of the distal end thereof and which has a carrier structure which encloses a cavity open at its distal ends characterized in that the carrier structure of the vessel supports formed by at least two carrier rings which in their non-expanded condition are jointly fixed to the catheter and are not connected together otherwise.

  • Patent number: 6165167
Abstract: In a catheter system for rapid exchange via a guidewire with a flexible, elongated inner catheter, which has a proximal end and a distal end as well as a guidewire lumen, which extends from an insertion port on the distal end to a lateral through port distally from the proximal end, and a flexible, tubular outer catheter, in which the inner catheter is disposed axially displaceably, and which has a lateral exit port for the guidewire, retaining means are provided on the inner catheter and the outer catheter, which retaining means prevent twisting of the outer catheter relative to the inner catheter. Thus, the through port and the exit port remain aligned with each other and the catheter system can be displaced simply along the guidewire. In addition, the outer catheter can be readily displaced relative to the inner catheter.
