  • Patent number: 8657376
Abstract: The present document describes a link member for providing an interface between an actuator and a seat base. The link member has a translational degree of freedom and at least two rotational degrees of freedom. The link member comprises: a joint member having a spherical surface, the joint member for attachment to one of the actuator and the seat base; a housing for attachment to the other one of the actuator and the seat base; and a slider mounted on the spherical surface and within the housing. The slider is free to move in a direction of a translational plane within the housing thereby providing the translational degree of freedom. Furthermore, the slider is free to slide on the spherical surface and to pivot about a first axis and a second axis thereby providing the at least two rotational degrees of freedom.

  • Patent number: 8070216
Abstract: A vehicle frame includes a plurality of hollow tubular members welded together. An opening in a side wall of the frame which receives a door or window of the vehicle is bordered by at least two hollow tubular members which are interconnected by a non-tubular, reinforcing corner member. The reinforcing corner member includes a pair of solid parallel plates spaced apart by a perpendicular cross-member. Each plate of the reinforcing corner member has integral first and second elongated portions extending on either side of a continuous curve therebetween which has a substantially constant radius of curvature such as to define a smooth transition between the integral first and second elongated portions of the plate. The reinforcing corner member distributes stress away from the curved corner and to the tubular members, thereby preventing stress concentration at a joint between the two tubular members surrounding the opening in the frame.

  • Publication number: 20100040993
Abstract: A diagnostic tool for detection of dental pathology is provided that functions as a self-contained, handheld unit. The tool includes a light probe and a housing within which are located an optical source, an optical detector, an analysis processor and a power source. The components within the housing are integrated on a support which is removable from the housing. The housing is in multiple pieces which may be connected together during operation, and disconnected to allow removal of the support. This allows for sterilization of the housing and light probe without the electrical components of the device.

  • Patent number: 7350012
Abstract: A configurable switching fabric port is disclosed having, in a particular configuration. A first interface that employs port interface resources and leaves at least one interface resource dormant and a second interface utilizing the dormant resource. One particular fault non-tolerant architecture, the RapidIO System, is specifically addressed. One implementation of this system incorporates transmission and reception ports configurable as 16 and 8 bit interfaces. In the 8-bit configuration, an 8-bit interface incorporates the least significant 8-bits of signal resources. Further, in the reduced, or 8-bit configuration, the most significant port interface resources of the 16 bit port are surplus.

  • Patent number: 6450133
Abstract: The container or trailer is separated into three inner compartments: a rear compartment in which the motor of the power generator is located, a front compartment in which the radiators for cooling the motor are located, with the radiators being operatively linked to the motor in a conventional fashion with cooling fluid pipes, and an intermediate compartment between the front and rear compartments. Air channels link the front compartment with the intermediate compartment, and the rear compartment with the intermediate compartment. A first fresh air intake port is provided in the trailer side wall in the rear compartment, for cooling the flywheel of the motor, and a second fresh air intake port is provided in the trailer side wall in the front compartment, for cooling the radiators. A warm air outlet port is provided in the trailer ceiling in the intermediate compartment.

  • Patent number: 6429638
Abstract: A peak detector for measuring the voltage amplitude of low amplitude balanced digital signals. The N-diode peak detector uses the non-linear characteristics of a diode to convert a high speed low amplitude input signal into a DC voltage, linearly proportional to the signal amplitude (peak). A compensation circuit is designed to match the characteristics of a digital modulation signal and track over a large range of temperatures and signal amplitudes. The circuit can be used for digital and analog modulation signals. For analog signals, the peak detector uses a larger number of diodes or a reduced range.

  • Patent number: 6219353
Abstract: A message hub is provided for use in a message communication system having a plurality of nodes connected to the message hub by a data communication medium for inter-node messaging. The message hub operates in a scheduling phase and a transmission phase. In the scheduling phase, request receiving means receives a messaging request signal is received from each node. In accordance with the messaging request signal, selecting means selects a selected node in the scheduling phase. Granting means generates a grant signal to the selected node for allowing the selected node to transmit a message to the message hub on the data communication medium. The granting means also generates a listen signal to the other nodes for commanding the other nodes to listen to the data communication medium. The message hub enters in the transmission phase in which message receiving means receives a message transmitted from the selected node on the data communication medium.
