  • Patent number: 7431272
Abstract: An apparatus for stirring and injecting a gas into a liquid. A drive device, located above a container containing a liquid, is connected to a vertical output shaft. The shaft has a self-suction turbine at its. The turbine is made of two stacked disks where the surface area of the lower disk is less than the surface area of the upper disk.

  • Patent number: 7147460
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for producing plastic articles by forming them in an inert atmosphere, the device comprising a hopper, a feed screw and means for forming the polymer melt. The device for injecting inert gas comprises a gas feed pipe, a gas injection surface near the wall of the hopper and a homogenization chamber fitted between the wall of the hopper and the gas feed pipe. That end of the gas feed pipe which is directed towards the injection surface is closed and has at least one radial opening O allowing the gas to be ejected at right angles to its direction of flow in the pipe.

  • Publication number: 20040028620
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for separating, by impaction, living particles and particles capable of being revived of a gas or a gas mixture under pressure, characterised in that it comprises a step (a) which consists in accelerating in a stage and along an axis (x) a single gas or gas mixture stream in a confined volume (V), to reach a speed not less than the speed of sound; a step (b) which consists in sudden deceleration of said single stream derived from step (a) in said volume, along substantially the same axis (x), at atmospheric pressure; a step (c) which consists in changing the direction of the gas or gas mixture flow at the output of the volume (V), which on average becomes radial; and a step (d) which consists in trapping said particles separated from the flow during step (c), on a target. In another embodiment, the method further comprises a step (e) which consists in counting the particles trapped during step (d).

  • Patent number: 6514310
Abstract: The electric arc furnace is equipped with a supersonic injector comprising a so-called Laval nozzle arranged at a certain distance above the bath. The dimensions of the nozzle are calculated as a function of the desired flow rate of oxygen and the desired velocity of the jet, and the pressure of the oxygen at the intake of the nozzle is such that the static pressure of the jet at the exit of the injector is substantially equal to the pressure of the surrounding atmosphere. Preferably, the injector comprises an annular channel for injection of natural gas, and can be used in burner mode at the start of the melting of scrap iron. The velocity of the oxygen is then subsonic.

  • Patent number: 6458330
Abstract: Optimization of an installation in which an operation is performed that requires control over the atmosphere inside a chamber (3), the operation being performed in the presence of a gaseous mixture capable of giving off emissions, the optimization being obtained by the presence of inlet (5) and outlet (8) devices external to the chamber to oppose the ingress of air into the chamber and the exit of gaseous emissions; and of an extraction device (4) comprising means (42) for regulating the flow rate to maintain an approximately zero pressure differential between the inside and the outside of the chamber.
