  • Publication number: 20120166120
Abstract: The invention concerns a method capable of discriminating between a gamma component and neutron component in an electronic signal (S1) resulting from the detection of gamma and/or neutron radiation, characterized in that it comprises the following steps: delaying by a time TAU and attenuating by a coefficient ALPHA the signal (S1), to obtain a delayed and attenuated signal (S2), subtracting the delayed and attenuated signal (S2) from the electronic signal (S1) to obtain a difference signal (S3) which comprises a gamma component and/or neutron component, and computing a magnitude sigma1 such that: sigma ? ? 1 = ? ? T ? ? 2 ? S 3 ? ( t ) ? ? ? t where ? is an instant when the gamma component passes zero and T2 is a previously determined instant later than instant ? chosen so that, in an interval [?ref, T2], the magnitude sigma1 is negative for a gamma component and positive for a neutron component.

  • Publication number: 20110186740
Abstract: A system for controlling photomultiplier gain drift is disclosed. According to one aspect, the system includes first means for measuring a noise signal of the photomultiplier, the first means configured emit a measurement signal representative of the photomultiplier's noise signal. The system further includes second means for maintaining the measured noise signal at a constant level, based on the measurement signal. The disclosed embodiments apply to stabilization of the gain of photomultipliers and, more specifically, to stabilization of neutron measurement systems using photomultipliers.

  • Publication number: 20110147590
Abstract: A system for transmitting an electrical signal, notably a frequency-related electrical signal, includes two conducting lines each having a central conductor surrounded by a conducting sheath, the lines being coupled and isolated from one another at each end by a transformer. The central conductor of a line is linked at the input of the system to a coil of a first transformer and at the output of the system to a coil of the second transformer. The invention is applied for example for the transmission of strongly disturbed environment measurement signals.

  • Publication number: 20100314556
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of 1,8-naphthalimide derivatives and of their salts as scintillation agents and more specifically as agents for discriminating between fast neutrons and gamma rays. It also relates to liquid scintillators comprising these scintillation agents in solution in a solvent and to novel 1,8-naphthalimide derivates of use as scintillation agents, in particular for discriminating between fast neutrons and gamma rays. Applications: all the fields of use of scintillators and in particular industry, geophysics, fundamental physics, in particular nuclear physics, the safety of goods and people, protection from radiation of workers in the industrial, nuclear and medical sectors, medical imaging, and the like.
