  • Publication number: 20230198812
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed to reduce MU-MIMO complexity in a receiver. In one embodiment, a method implemented in a network node includes determining a frequency dispersion of a channel for a wireless device (WD); and based at least in part on the determination of the frequency dispersion, determining at least one frequency spacing for at least one weight associated with the channel. In another embodiment, a method implemented in a WD includes transmitting a signal to the network node; and receiving an allocation of at least one time-frequency resource based at least in part on a determination of a frequency dispersion on the transmitted signal, the at least one time-frequency resource being shared between the WD and at least one other WD.

  • Patent number: 11044125
Abstract: A method performed by a node in a wireless communications network for improving multi-user transmissions in the wireless communications network is provided. The node determines channel estimates based on demodulation reference signals, or a data symbol in at least one Physical Resource Block, PRB, of the latest received subframe. Then, the node determines a phase difference and an amplitude difference between Resource Elements, REs, in a first set of contiguous REs in the at least one PRB of the latest received subframe based on the obtained channel estimates. The node then pre-equalizes at least one channel within at least one PRB of a transmission subframe by aligning the phase and amplitude of REs in a second set of contiguous REs therein based on the determined phase and amplitude differences. A node for improving multi-user transmissions in the wireless communications network is also provided.

  • Patent number: 10841883
Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a method, performed by a network node, for handling of specific power reduction for a User Equipment (UE). The network node receives a message from the UE comprising an identification of a specific type of the UE. The network node obtains a reduced power applied by the UE corresponding to the received identification. The network node selects an allocation for transmissions from the UE, based on the reduced power applied by the UE. Embodiments herein further relate to a network node for performing the method for handling of specific power reduction for a UE.

  • Patent number: 10149316
Abstract: The present invention relates to granting time intervals for transmitting a control signal burst and, more particularly, to methods and devices for granting Dedicated Physical Control Channel (DPCCH) bursts for Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA). A base station determines whether a predetermined condition for transmitting a grant signal is satisfied and, if so, determines a schedule for receiving a control signal burst from a mobile device and transmits, in accordance with the determined schedule, the grant signal to at least said mobile device. Correspondingly, a mobile device transmits a report to a base station causing it to determine, in accordance with the report, a schedule for transmitting a control signal burst. Then the mobile device receives grant signals in accordance with the determined schedule and transmits a control signal burst in accordance with the grant signal.

  • Patent number: 10088552
Abstract: It is presented a method for determining a position of a wireless device, the method being performed in a network node connected to a plurality of remote radio heads via a combiner. The method comprises the steps of: adjusting a weighting of an uplink signal for at least one of the remote radio heads; measuring a signal quality of a combined uplink signal received via the combiner; repeating the steps of adjusting and measuring until an exit condition is true; and determining a position of the wireless device based on how the measured signal quality differs for adjustments of weighting of the uplink signal for different remote radio heads.

  • Patent number: 9877336
Abstract: A base station that implements an improved link adaptation process that takes into account the fact that a certain reference signal (e.g., CSI-RS) may be seen as interference by certain wireless communication devices (WCDs). Accordingly, when the base station schedules a data transmission for the WCD to occur in a particular TTI and the base station is scheduled to transmit the CSI-RS during the same TTI, the base station will tend to select a more robust MCS for the data transmission to the WCD to counter effect the possible interference caused by the CSI-RS.

  • Patent number: 9654171
Abstract: The present disclosure concerns receivers for use in nodes or devices that participate in wireless communications. In one exemplary embodiment, the receiver receives a first signal attributable to a first carrier and a second signal attributable to a second carrier. A first path searcher detects taps in the first signal attributable to the first carrier. A second path searcher detects taps in the second signal attributable to the second carrier. A channel tap selector selects, based on received energy values for taps detected by the first path searcher and the second path searcher, which tap values are to be used for taps of the receiver for both the first carrier and the second carrier.

  • Patent number: 9054903
Abstract: A method for equalizing a received radio signal in a WCDMA system, comprises receiving (210), in a radio receiver, of a digital radio signal spread by scrambling codes. A channel estimation is performed (230) on the received digital radio signal for a plurality of channels. The received digital radio signal is in an equalizer equalized (240) into an equalized digital radio signal. This equalizing is performed by combining a plurality of part signals, deduced from the digital radio signal, with a respective delay and a respective combining weight. The equalizing (240) comprises provision of the combining weights based on a signal impairment matrix having elements compensated for systematic colouring caused by said scrambling codes.
