  • Publication number: 20100049038
Abstract: According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a cardiac roadmapping technique is provided, in which a static roadmap is built onto which a view of the intervention device is projected at the correct location. This new viewing mode combines the advantages of both roadmapping, i.e. accurate localization, and the advantages of a motion-free view, i.e. maximum readability.

  • Publication number: 20080212684
Abstract: The present invention relates to a video decoder (DEC) for decoding a bit stream (BS) corresponding to pictures (P) of a video signal, the coded pictures being likely to include macroblocks coded in a progressive and in an interlaced way. The decoder includes a decoding unit (DEU) for decoding macroblocks coded in a progressive way, and a hybrid reference construction unit (HRCU) for constructing, for each reference picture, a hybrid reference texture (HRT) which has the property of representing said reference picture in a frame-based and in a field-based manner. Said hybrid reference texture is used by said decoding unit for decoding interlaced macroblocks.

  • Publication number: 20070230574
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for encoding digital video data corresponding to an original sequence of images and available in the form of a video stream consisting of successive pictures which are either INTRA pictures or INTER pictures. The INTRA pictures are called I-pictures and encoded by means of a so-called INTRA mode without any reference to any past or future picture. The INTER pictures are either monodirectionally predicted pictures, called P-pictures and encoded with reference to a past or future reference picture which is an INTRA or INTER picture, or bidirectionally predicted pictures, called B-pictures and encoded with reference to one or more reference picture(s).

  • Publication number: 20070140331
Abstract: The invention relates to an encoding method applied to an input video sequence corresponding to successive scenes subdivided into successive video object planes (VOPs) and generating, for coding all the video objects of said scenes, a coded bitstream the content of which is described in terms of separate channels and constituted of encoded video data in which each data item is described by means of a bitstream syntax allowing to recognize and decode all the elements of said content, said syntax comprising an additional syntactic information provided for describing independently the type of temporal prediction of the various channels. According to the invention, said additional information is a syntactic element placed at the slice level or the macroblock level in the coded bitstream, and its meaning is either specific for each present channel or shared by all existing channels.

  • Publication number: 20070019723
Abstract: The invention relates to the field of video compression and, more specifically, to a video encoding method applied to an input sequence of frames in which each frame is subdivided into blocks of arbitrary size. This method comprises, for at least a part of said blocks of the current frame, the steps of generating on a block basis motion-compensated frames, each one being obtained from each current original frame and a previous reconstructed frame, generating from said motion-compensated frames residual signals, using a so-called matching pursuit (MP) algorithm for decomposing each of said generated residual signals into coded dictionary functions called atoms, the other blocks of the current frame being processed by means of other coding techniques, and coding said atoms and the motion vectors determined during the motion compensation step, for generating an output coded bitstream.

  • Publication number: 20060165296
Abstract: The invention relates to a video coding method applied to an original video sequence in which the successive frames or video object planes (VOPs) include one or several arbitrarily shaped video objects (VOs) defined by their texture and motion components and an additional shape component. According to the invention, said method comprises a non object-oriented coding step applied to a small numer of frames of the video sequence, an object-oriented coding step, applied to all the frames of the sequence that follow said small number of frames, and a sequencing step, provided for controlling that said non object-oriented and object-oriented coding steps are respectively applied to the appropriate frames, in order to generate a coded bitstream including non object-oriented coded data corresponding to said small number of frames followed by object-oriented coded data corresponding to said folluwing frames. The invention also relates to a corresponding video decoding method.

  • Publication number: 20060153298
Abstract: The invention relates to a video encoding method applied to a sequence of video frames and generating a coded bitstream in which each data item is described by means of a bitstream syntax allowing any decoder to recognize and decode all the segments of the content of said bitstream. This method includes a predicting step, based on a prediction technique using a motion compensation operation, and a subtracting step, based on a subtraction of said predicted frame from the current one, and the motion compensation operation leads to motion vectors with horizontal and vertical components (MVx, MVy). These components have to be encoded differentially by using predictions (Px, Py) of said components and, in fact, only the differences (dx, dy) between the components and their predictions (Px, Py) are therefore encoded.

  • Publication number: 20060140264
Abstract: The invention relates to an encoding method applied to a video sequence corresponding to successive scenes and generating a coded bitstream in which each data item is described by means of a bitstream syntax allowing, at the decoding side, to recognize and decode all the elements of the content of this coded bitstream. According to the invention, said syntax comprises specific syntactic means for separately describing the spatial resolution of each channel or, for each channel, the spatial resolution of each image of the input sequence. Moreover, said description may be done with respect to a reference spatial resolution, which may be either an absolute nominal spatial resolution or the spatial resolution of one of the channels. The invention also relates to the corresponding encoding device, transmittable video signal and decoding device.

Several examples of specific information are given.

  • Publication number: 20050100086
Abstract: The invention relates to a video coding method and device applied to a sequence of frames and generating a coded bitstream in which each data item is described by means of a bitstream syntax allowing any decoder to recognize and decode all the elements of the content of said bitstream. According to the invention, which finds an application for instance within the video compression standard MPEG-4, the syntax comprises a specific one bit flag provided for indicating at a high level description the presence, or not, of a shape for each video object of the scenes of the sequence. This flag is transmitted in the coded bitstream, and its value is read at the decoding side for controlling correspondingly the decoding step.
