  • Patent number: 8498769
Abstract: Method of formulating a lateral flight trajectory for the rejoining by an aircraft (200) of a trajectory of a flight plan (910) comprising a plurality of waypoints (911, 912, 913), the aircraft (200) flying outside of the flight plan (910) and according to a divergent track with respect to the trajectory of the flight plan (210), characterized in that the method: determines a waypoint (913) of the flight plan for the rejoining, defined as the first waypoint (913) of the flight plan included in a capture zone defined by the flight plan trajectory situated downstream of the point of intersection between the straight line defined by an angle (?) with the perpendicular to the track of the aircraft and the trajectory of the flight plan, formulates the optimal lateral flight trajectory for a rejoining by the aircraft (200) at the determined waypoint.

  • Patent number: 7797102
Abstract: A flight management system for an aircraft, for executing a flight plan comprising referenced waypoints comprising a start point, an end point and intermediate waypoints, the said aircraft having a specified fuel quantity at the start of the said flight plan, executes a function of monitoring the fuel consumption with respect to at least one threshold value. The function comprises an operation for estimating if the quantity of fuel remaining on board drops below a threshold at any point in the flight plan included between the start point and the end point, and inserts a corresponding pseudo-waypoint in the flight plan, corresponding to the point where the said threshold is passed. The inserted pseudo-point is displayed on screens for displaying the flight plan.

  • Publication number: 20100198433
Abstract: Flight management system for aircraft comprising computation means capable of determining a gain or a loss in terms of flight time remaining to a point of arrival, and in terms of fuel consumption, following the input by an operator of a modification of an initial flight plan using the Direct To function. The computation means are capable of suggesting to the operator a modification of the lateral flight plan that procures an optimum gain. The flight management system also comprises a display interface capable of presenting to the operator the information concerning the gain or the loss in time and/or consumption, and of prompting the operator to accept or refuse the modification.

  • Publication number: 20080300737
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for calculating a diversion flight plan making it possible to define at least one diversion airport to have the associated predictions on the corresponding diversion flight plan. The invention also relates to a device comprising means implementing the method according to the invention. The device according to the invention makes it possible to change, in the course of the flight, the said waypoint from which the diversion flight plan is calculated. The method according to the invention furthermore calculates the last possible diversion point on the flight plan, based on the fuel predictions.

  • Publication number: 20080071434
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and its associated device for preparing an initial flight plan. The initial flight plan includes an initial takeoff procedure comprising a takeoff runway associated with an SID procedure, signifying instrument departure procedure with one or more routes described by waypoints. The method according to the invention has a first step of inputting at least one optional takeoff procedure. The takeoff procedure has at least one takeoff runway procedure and an associated SID procedure. A second step includes selecting takeoff procedure from among the optional takeoff procedures.

  • Publication number: 20070129857
Abstract: This invention relates to a system and a method for updating the approach path in the flight plan of an aircraft during the approach phase to a landing runway comprising an alignment point. The method includes a preselection phase for preselecting landing runways of the destination airport including their approach procedures that would be suitable for the landing of the aircraft type, a phase to determine all the approach paths corresponding to the runways and to the preselected procedures, a phase during the flight to select the active runway and the active procedure, a phase during the flight to update the route in the flight plan to join as soon as possible the approach path corresponding to the active runway and to the active procedure, starting from the current position of the aircraft on the route of the flight plan and before the alignment point with the runway.
