  • Patent number: 7017448
Abstract: A wire stripper has a blade handle, a gripper handle, a blade jaw and a gripper jaw all pivotally connected at a main pivot pin that is offset from the mating faces of the jaws. Movable and floating cutting blades mounted on the blade jaw are self-aligning due to a floating connection of the blades that allows them to move respective gauge surfaces into engagement during closing. A blade hold down spring urges the blades into alignment. The jaws are angled with respect to the handle axis so the throat of the cutting blades aligns with a user's line of sight. Individual handle springs have differential springs rates and are arranged so that the handles springs do no resist opening of the jaws.

  • Patent number: 7000322
Abstract: A laminated blade assembly for cutting the insulation of a wire to permit removal of the insulation from the wire. The blade assembly includes a stationary member and a movable member which are formed to contact each other when moved together to support and cut the insulation of the wire. Each of the members includes a blade sandwiched between a pair of wire insulation supports. A number of grooves of different transverse cross-sectional sizes are formed in each support and are spaced apart from one another in a direction longitudinally of the edge of the support. One of the stationary and one of the movable members is a lower member and the other is an upper member with these members encircling the insulated wire when the members are moved together. Each of the grooves of the lower portion encircle more than one half of the cross-section of the insulated wire.

  • Patent number: 6615480
Abstract: A blade assembly for a punch down tool includes a base member having a mounting block. The mounting block is releasably attachable to the chuck of a punch down tool. First and second extensions are connected to the mounting block. Each extension terminates at a wire-engaging head and has a blade-receiving shoe formed therein. First and second cutting blades are mounted on the first and second blade-receiving shoes, respectively. Each cutting blade has a cutting edge that extends beyond the end of its associated wire-engaging head. The cutting blades are fastened to the shoes by attachment elements that may be ultrasonically welded to the blades. A notch or groove receives a base edge of the cutting surface. The body member is made of glass-filled plastic while the cutting blade is metal.
