  • Patent number: 9121164
Abstract: A bucket for a skid loader has a screw auger with right-hand and left-hand auger fighting which meet in the center on a single shaft. Rotation of the shaft in one direction causes sand or other granular material in the bucket to move toward the end outlets for loading into conventional sandbags. Rotation of the shaft in the opposite direction advances the material in the bucket to the center where it is discharged through a bottom outlet into a bulk bag such as an FIBC bag which is supported on tubes suspended from the bucket on lines. A cover is releasably attached to the bucket to block the bottom outlet when a bulk bag is not being filled.

  • Patent number: 8100301
Abstract: A sandbag filling apparatus has an auger within a steel pipe mounted to a wheeled frame for easy positioning. The pipe has a sand receiving end positionable beneath a sand pile, and an elevated end with a sand chute for filling sandbags. The auger flights are substantially spaced from the pipe ID and driven by a motor mounted to the pipe. The pipe has an opening which, when positioned beneath a sandpile, allows sand to enter the pipe and to be delivered by the auger to the sand chute. A vibrator is mounted to the pipe between the opening and the elevated end which vibrates a pair of fins arranged on either side of the opening so that sand cannot form a bridge across the opening. Smaller openings may be positioned beneath the fins on either side of the primary sand opening to ease starting the auger with sand present.

  • Patent number: 7510365
Abstract: An apparatus and method for packaging bulk materials into containers. The apparatus and method are useful in the bagging of bulk products, such as sand, salt, grain, feed and the like, and is particularly useful in rapidly forming sandbags. The bags can be filled at a remote location. The apparatus may be attached to a vehicle, such as a skid steer, tractor or truck, and can replace an existing bucket of a front end loader. The bucket scoops a quantity of bulk material into the bucket. An auger mounted in the bucket is driven by a motor to force a flow stream of bulk material out an opening in the bucket. An open container is placed adjacent the flow stream to rapidly fill the container with bulk material. The apparatus can also be provided as a retrofit kit to convert an existing bucket into a bagging apparatus.
