    Abstract: A method and apparatus for insulating apertures is disclosed. An insulating dome is placed over these apertures and can be locked into place, thereby providing insulation for the aperture. The apertures that are typically uninsulated are hidden stair openings and whole-house fans, plywood attic access passageways or other openings. The insulating dome can be lifted automatically once the hidden folding stair is opened or the whole-house fan is used.
